Geotab HRN-CH10A2 Harness

The HRN-CH10A2 is a Geotab custom 10-pin FMS adapter that links a GO device to newer Hino trucks, and to Hino 100 series trucks from 2014 to 2018, through a factory 10-pin connector by the fuse box. It must be paired with the HRN-CM24Y1-A.

What Is the HRN-CH10A2?

The HRN-CH10A2 is Geotab's 10-pin FMS adapter for Hino trucks, built to plug into the factory 10-pin connector Hino places near the fuse box so a GO device can read the truck without touching the diagnostic port. It runs 30 cm (12 in) and requires the HRN-CM24Y1-A base harness to reach the device.

Geotab's listing gives it two jobs. It covers newer Hino trucks, with the 2019 and 2022 model years named, and it is also listed as compatible with the Hino 100 series from 2014 to 2018. That second point surprises people, because they expect every pre-2019 Hino to take the 8-pin adapter. If a fleet runs both a light 100 series and larger Hinos, the parts list may need both adapters.

Which Vehicles and Devices Does the HRN-CH10A2 Work With?

Per Geotab, the adapter fits Hino vehicles listed as 2019 or 2022 and the Hino 100 series from 2014 to 2018. Geotab's step-by-step guide is written for 2019 and newer Hinos, and the same guide notes the harness for 2013 and later 100 series trucks. Because the published years are not one tidy range, we always confirm the connector on the actual truck.

The online version of the guide uses a GO9, joined through the HRN-CM24Y1-A, which Geotab requires with this adapter. Older 200 to 500 series trucks from 2014 to 2018 take the HRN-CH06A2 instead.

What Problem Does It Solve on the Job?

Newer Hinos are the trucks a growing delivery or trades fleet tends to buy, and they arrive in batches. When five identical trucks come off the lot together, the fleet wants them on the map that week, installed the same way every time. A plug-in adapter at a factory connector is repeatable: same panels, same plug, same bracket, about the same time per truck.

It also keeps service departments happy. The diagnostic port stays untouched for scan tools and the device lives up on the factory bracket above the fuse box, so a technician working on the truck later is unlikely to disturb it.

How Is the HRN-CH10A2 Installed?

Geotab's 2019+ Hino guide gives the order of work. In brief:

  1. Park securely, ignition off. Geotab says devices should only be installed or removed in a stationary, parked vehicle.
  2. Unclip the lower passenger-side dash panel and remove the upper panel's two 10 mm bolts.
  3. Find the 10-pin GPS connector at the back right of the fuse box and plug in the HRN-CH10A2.
  4. Join the base harness to the adapter through both its J1939 plug and its 6-pin OBD-II plug.
  5. Plug in the GO9, lock it to the harness with the black serialized cable tie, and trim the tail flush.
  6. Route device and cabling up above the fuse box on its left side, and fix the device to the factory bracket with two cable ties so it cannot move, antenna toward the sky.
  7. Start the truck and wait: two beeps every 60 seconds during setup, then ten beeps when all three LEDs turn solid.
  8. Register in MyInstall and look for Pass. If it fails, check the LEDs, cycle the ignition and refresh, then confirm the unit in MyGeotab and refit the panels.

Keep every connected harness within a 2 m (6.5 ft) total, and do not plug one T-harness into another.

What Should You Watch for When Fitting It?

Do not confuse the two Hino connectors: this adapter wants the 10-pin plug on the right side of the fuse box, not the 8-pin blue one on the left. Geotab's guide calls it a GPS connector while the harness listing calls the adapter FMS, so expect both terms on paperwork. Use the serialized tie at the device so the unit can be traced later. Should the truck show a warning lamp, stall or lose performance after the install, Geotab says to switch the engine off and pull the device, and our technicians then go over the install with the fleet.

Which Related Harnesses Should You Compare?

  • HRN-CH06A2: the Hino adapter for 2014 to 2018 200 to 500 series trucks, using the blue connector on the left.
  • HRN-CM24Y1-A: the base harness Geotab requires, carrying J1939 and OBD-II Molex plugs.
  • HRN-GS16K2-HD: a universal 16-pin heavy-duty T-harness, the fallback when a truck has no make-specific option.

What Are Common Questions About the HRN-CH10A2?

Is the HRN-CH10A2 only for 2019 and newer Hinos?

No. Geotab's listing names newer model years and also says the adapter suits Hino 100 series trucks from 2014 to 2018, so an older 100 series truck can use it too.

How do you know the install worked?

Geotab's guide has the device beep twice every 60 seconds while it sets up, then beep ten times once all three LEDs go solid. After that, MyInstall should show a Pass, meaning the unit has talked to the network in the last 24 hours.

What is the difference between the HRN-CH10A2 and the HRN-CH06A2?

The HRN-CH10A2 meets a 10-pin connector at the back right of the fuse box on newer and 100 series Hinos, while the HRN-CH06A2 uses a blue 8-pin connector at the back left on 2014 to 2018 200 to 500 series trucks.
