The GO9+ shows its status with a red configuration light, a blue GPS light, a green cellular light and a buzzer. Once blue and green hold steady it is installed, and the Wi-Fi hotspot is then switched on as a separate step.
The GO9+ reports progress with three coloured LEDs and its own buzzer. Red covers device configuration, blue covers GPS and green the cellular network, while beeps mark each stage of setup. Unlike a plain GO9, its Wi-Fi hotspot stays off until it is enabled in MyGeotab. Tap any button below to see it and hear what it means.
🔊 The GO9+ uses lights and beeps. Turn your sound on.
Easy way to remember it: Red can wait. Blue for GPS. Green for go. Blue and green steady means it's installed.

Each button plays the pattern on the GO9+ above, says out loud what it means, and tells you what to do.
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| All dark | No power, or engine off | Check the port, harness and fuse |
| Red flashing | Configuring; an update is pending | Ignore it while installing |
| Red steady | Configured and powered; on later trips, engine on | No action |
| Blue flashing | GPS searching | Antenna side up, clear sky |
| Blue steady | GPS locked | No action |
| Green flashing | Network not reached yet | Move toward stronger coverage |
| Green steady | Cellular connected | No action |
| Beeps | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Six quick | Power found | Start the vehicle |
| Two quick per minute | Setup running | Let it run |
| Ten quick | Setup done, restart follows | Validate, then enable Wi-Fi |
| Single quick | Engine detected, later trip | No action |
| One long | GPS locked, later trip | No action |
| Two plus three | Cellular locked, later trip | No action |
To turn on the hotspot, open the vehicle in MyGeotab under Assets, go to Edit Asset, then the Devices and Settings tab, and choose Show advanced settings. Accept the Wi-Fi terms, enable the hotspot, and set the network name and password drivers will join. The device must be on the GO Plan or the ProPlus + Wi-Fi rate plan.
Up to 10 phones, tablets or laptops can share the connection. The Turn external device off setting can keep the hotspot alive for 10 minutes, 1 hour or 4 hours after the key goes off, and Geotab warns that this drains the battery. Its pages disagree on the default (off with the ignition in one, five minutes later in another), so we set it on purpose for each vehicle. Geotab also lists no sleep mode for the GO9+.
The GO9+ shares the GO9-family connector, so the GO10's X-series kits don't fit. With its GPS antenna underneath, we usually mount it on an extension, antenna side up:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Models | GO9+ with Wi-Fi; GP9-LTETENG without Wi-Fi |
| Size and weight | 77.3 x 53 x 27.5 mm, 97 g |
| LEDs | Red configuration, blue GPS, green cellular |
| Average draw at 12 V | 96.2 mA Wi-Fi off, 330 mA Wi-Fi on |
| Sleep mode | Not available, per Geotab |
| Cellular | LTE CAT-4; AT&T, TELUS and Rogers listed |
| Hotspot | 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz, WPA2/AES, 10 connections |
| GNSS | 72 channels, about 2.0 m CEP; antenna on bottom face |
| Temperature | -40 to +85 °C |
| Memory | 64 Mb flash, up to 80,000 offline logs |
Blue and green both steady is the finish line; a flashing red on its own is not a fault. Check the antenna face points up, the unit sits 20 cm or more from the driver, and a cable tie holds it. Validate the serial in MyInstall. Then do the step a GO9 doesn't have: confirm the rate plan includes Wi-Fi, enable the hotspot, set the network name and password, cycle the ignition and connect a phone to prove it works.
Red can wait. Blue for GPS. Green for go. Red blinks while the unit configures, and Geotab says to ignore it during the install. Once blue (satellites) and green (cellular) hold steady, the GO9+ counts as installed.
After the device is installed and communicating. On the vehicle's Edit Asset page in MyGeotab, the advanced device settings let you enable the hotspot and set its network name and password. A rate plan with Wi-Fi is required, and the ignition may need to be off for up to 5 minutes before changes apply.
Geotab lists sleep mode as not available on the GO9+, while the standard GO9 sleeps at 4.5 mA. Add the option to keep the hotspot running after the key is off, and vehicles that sit for days deserve a battery check, which our technicians can do on the install visit.
When a GO9+ hotspot won't appear on a tablet or blue keeps searching, our technicians check the plan, settings and antenna orientation at your vehicle and leave it connected. Call 803-513-1009 or start with Get a Quote.
