Azuga JBus Tracker, technical information

The light patterns Azuga documents for the JBus device, played on a drawing, with a voice that says what each one means.

This is the technical sheet for the Azuga JBus device. It covers the three light patterns Azuga documents, what is known about sound, the SKUs Azuga names, the PTO conditions, and what to check when a truck does not report.

Lights: tap a pattern and watch the device

We draw two lights, not three

Azuga's JBus page talks about "the lights" without counting them or naming colors, except green and red. We draw only those two. If your unit has a third light, Azuga has not described it for this device.

Each button plays the pattern on the device above and says out loud what it means.

Sound

🔇 No Azuga page lists a speaker or beeps for the JBus device.

That is silence in the documents, not Azuga saying there is no sound. We treat the device as silent in the field. This is a light-only guide until Azuga says otherwise.

SKUs Azuga names

SKUName in Azuga's PTO guide
DCM970-21ZB70OBD-II device
DCM970-21ZB13-wire hardwired device
DCM970-21ZB72JBUS PTO OBDII, supports 6 pin, 9 pin Type 1 and 9 pin Type 2

The PTO guide is the only Azuga page we found that gives these codes. Azuga's SafetyCam install guide separately says a product code starting with DCM970 is 4G LTE compatible. The three codes are listed side by side so an installer can tell which box is which before it goes in a truck.

PTO prerequisites in one place

  • Firmware 34D0015330 or later.
  • Configuration name ending in _4.
  • PTO package enabled in the account.
  • A sensor cable for PTO monitoring, sold separately in the shop.

When the truck does not report

  • Start with the connector. A loose or damaged connection is the most common reason for frequent disconnects, per ServiceTitan's JBus page.
  • Wait. New devices can take 15 to 30 minutes to register, and the ignition must be on.
  • Check the approval. The hardware model has to be approved for the account.
  • Re-seat the cable. Azuga's general advice for its devices is to unplug, wait five minutes, plug back in, then watch for the lights.
  • Try another truck. It separates a bad device from a bad port.

At the truck, step by step

  1. Look at the diagnostic port before you open a box. Count the pins and note whether another device is already plugged in.
  2. Pick the direct plug, the matching cable, or the Y-cable. The JBus cables page lists the options.
  3. Turn the vehicle off, connect, and watch the lights for the starting flash.
  4. Wait for the green light that Azuga says means ready.
  5. Start the truck and give it time to register before you decide anything is wrong.
  6. Check the portal for the truck. The portal is the proof, not the light.

What to write on the work order

Record the serial number, the port type, the cable part number, the date and time of the install, and what the lights did. If a truck comes back as a problem a month later, that note saves an hour of guessing. It also shows Azuga support exactly what you had in front of you.

Questions to put to Azuga

  • Which trucks and classes is the JBus device approved for?
  • Does the existing device have to come out of an occupied 6 pin or 9 pin port?
  • What are the dimensions, supply range and sleep draw?
  • Is the green light solid or flashing for five seconds?

Not published

We could not find dimensions, weight, supply range, sleep draw, ingress rating or temperature range for the JBus device. The specification page on azuga.com describes the plug-in tracker and has no date, so we do not reuse its numbers here. If you need figures for a bid or an approval, ask Azuga customer care and get them in writing.
