The two light states Azuga documents for the ELD device, with a voice that says what each one means, plus what to verify.
The technical sheet for the Azuga ELD. Azuga documents very little here, so this page is short on lights and long on what to check and what to ask.
Two states, no more
Azuga documents only red flashes at start-up and green for normal operation. Its general device cheat sheet is written for the regular GPS tracker, not the ELD, so we do not apply it here.
Tap a light pattern to see it
Each button plays the pattern on the device above and says out loud what it means.
🔇 No Azuga page lists a speaker or beeps for the ELD device.
The documents are silent on sound. We treat it as silent and will change this if Azuga says otherwise.
Azuga's general blog on installing the OBD-II ELD gives the order: plug in with the ignition off (it says this takes under two minutes), turn the vehicle on, watch the light sequence, install the app, and pair. It gives no light colors. The install guide has nothing on pairing. Azuga's separate vehicle and driver pairing article lists web, manual app, automatic Bluetooth, QR sticker, beacon, beacon button and API methods, and does not cover the ELD.
The driver needs the ELD app on a phone or tablet. Azuga names it "Hours of Service ELD," and it is on iOS and Android. Azuga's blog says the app detects the device by Bluetooth LE on its own. Anything the driver has to do beyond that, such as how a shared truck hands off, is not in the pages we read, so ask Azuga for the driver quick-start sheet and keep a copy in the cab.
| Check | How | Status here |
|---|---|---|
| FMCSA registration | Search the FMCSA registered ELD list for the Azuga identifier | Not verified by us |
| Hardware identity | Ask Azuga for the model of the unit you will receive | Not published |
| Price | Get it in writing with the quote | Not published |
| Canada use | Azuga has a separate Canada guide | Listed on Transport Canada list |
A trucking directory, which is not the FMCSA, lists Azuga entries with identifiers HOS001 (an iOS and Geometris listing), AZELD1 (model AZ-TAB-E8-ELD, tablet based) and AZELD2 (model AZ-BYOD-ELD). The Transport Canada list shows HOS001 with certification 1F53 on 2024-06-06 and protocols J1587, J1708, J1939 and OBD-II. These are useful clues for a search. They are not a live compliance check.
