The VidFleet AI Recorder is Zonar's AI dash camera with its own LTE connection, offered as a road-facing AIR-I or a road and driver AIR-II. Here is what it does, how it gets power and what matters at install time.

The VidFleet AI Recorder, sold as AIR-I and AIR-II, is the AI dash camera in Zonar's lineup that came over from GPS Trackit. It mounts behind the windshield, records the road in 1080p, watches for safety events with an onboard AI processor and uploads clips over its own 4G LTE connection, so it does not need a separate tracker to report.
The AIR-I is the road-facing recorder. The AIR-II adds the driver-facing camera with infrared lights for night, and it accepts up to two auxiliary cameras, which is how Zonar's quote tool offers three-channel and four-channel versions.
The recorder takes power through a USB-C plug on the unit, and the other end of the cord comes in three versions. The OBD-II cord plugs into the diagnostic port on cars, pickups and vans. The J1939 cord plugs into the 9-pin port on heavy trucks. The direct-wire cord has a red constant lead, a white accessory lead and a black ground, and lands on fuse taps with a 5 amp fuse in line.
When the vehicle already has a plug-in tracker in the OBD-II or J1939 port, both devices share the port through a Y cable. Zonar lists an OBD-II Y cable and a J1939 to USB-C cable as accessories for exactly this.
Service vans and contractor pickups. A single road-facing AIR-I gives video proof after a fender bender and runs from the OBD-II port with no wiring.
Box trucks and delivery fleets. An AIR-II with a rear auxiliary camera records backing incidents at docks, where a lot of low-speed damage claims start.
Heavy trucks. The J1939 cord powers the camera from the 9-pin port, and the flat mounting plate fits the upright windshields on most heavy-duty cabs.
Fleets that want driver coaching. The driver-facing camera on the AIR-II, with infrared for night, gives managers context on what happened inside the cab when an event triggers.

Use a high-endurance microSD card. Zonar asks for Class 10 or better, 32 to 512 GB, built for continuous recording, and the camera formats a new card the first time it sees it, so back up anything on it first. On a direct-wire install, prove both circuits with a meter key on and key off: the white accessory lead goes to a switched fuse and the red lead goes to a constant fuse, each through the fuse tap with the supplied 5 amp fuse in the upper socket and the vehicle's own fuse below it. Never tap an airbag, ABS, lighting or driver-assist circuit, and keep the harness clear of side curtain airbags. Mount just below the driver side of the mirror on clean, dry glass with no print on it, using the flat plate on upright heavy-truck glass and the wedge plate on raked glass. Then level the road camera with the side knob on flat ground, set the driver camera parallel to the cab, and confirm power, network, auxiliary cameras and the live preview in the Zonar Video app before refitting the security panel with its Torx screws.
The AI Recorder fits fleets that want video and tracking from one device, from a single van up to large truck fleets, and fleets that want to add side or rear angles later without replacing the main camera. Fleets running Zonar's V4 platform on buses or heavy trucks should ask Zonar whether the Zonar DashCam on the Coach dashboard fits their account better. We can supply and install either one.
When you are ready to put AI Recorder units in your vehicles, API Signal supplies the hardware, sets up the monthly service and has our technicians install it on site at your yard, so the vehicles never leave your lot. Call 803-513-1009 or use Get a Quote to set a date.

The AIR-I is the road-facing recorder. The AIR-II adds a driver-facing camera with infrared lights and accepts up to two auxiliary cameras, which is how three-camera and four-camera setups are built.
Yes. A Y cable lets the camera power cord and a plug-in tracker use the same port, and Zonar lists an OBD-II Y cable as an accessory for this.
Zonar asks for a high-endurance microSD card, Class 10 or better, between 32 and 512 GB. Ordinary cards may work at first but are far more likely to fail under constant recording.
Yes. It has a built-in speaker and microphone. Its status is also shown on three LEDs and a multi-purpose button, all explained on the technical information page.
