Zonar Features

Zonar's features fall into five groups: tracking, safety and video, compliance, maintenance, and the school bus suite. Some come from the hardware, some only from the software, and some need a particular device. This page explains what each one does and which hardware it needs.

What Tracking Features Does Zonar Offer?

• Live location and trip history on Zonar Ignition, with speed, idle, stops and odometer.
• Geofences that alert when vehicles arrive at, leave or speed in a job site, yard or street, and zones to keep vehicles out of restricted areas.
• Equipment inputs such as PTO, plows, doors and spreaders, through the V4's discrete inputs or the hardwired trackers' input wires.
• Asset tracking with the TTU-2830, solar tracker and ZTrak, including theft recovery mode on ZTrak.
• Driver ID through the wireless keyfob, a wired key fob reader or Z Pass operator cards.
• Deviceless telematics for vehicles whose manufacturer shares data with Zonar.

What Safety and Video Features Does Zonar Offer?

• AI dash cameras that detect and upload safety events: the VidFleet AI Recorder and the Zonar DashCam.
• Real-time driver alerts on the Zonar DashCam, if the fleet turns them on.
• Extra camera angles from the auxiliary camera on the AIR-II and the external camera on the Zonar DashCam.
• Driver behavior reporting for speeding, harsh braking and acceleration, used for scorecards and coaching on Zonar Coach.
• Starter disable on the LMU-2630 and TTU-2830, blocking the next start of a parked vehicle.

What Compliance Features Does Zonar Offer?

• EVIR verified inspections. RFID tags on inspection points and a reader prove the driver was at each one, with defects recorded on the spot.
• Zonar Logs ELD for hours of service on the Connect tablet, with driver hours pulled from the V4; the small fleet line offers an ELD service as well.
• Emissions Check for California's Clean Truck Check. Zonar says it was the first telematics provider certified by CARB for this through factory-installed, hardwired integrations, and the V4 runs the scans and submits the data remotely. Zonar notes scans move to four times a year starting in 2027.

What Maintenance Features Does Zonar Offer?

• Fault codes from J1939, J1708 and OBD-II vehicles, with daily fault reports in Zonar Ignition.
• FaultIQ predictive diagnostics as an upgrade that flags issues before they cause breakdowns or failed emissions scans.
• Tire pressure monitoring with Continental TPMS on the V4.
• Manufacturer integrations including Detroit Connect Virtual Technician and International.

What Does the Zonar School Bus Suite Include?

Zonar's bus suite combines routing, the Connect tablet for drivers, Z Pass cards that record each student boarding and leaving, Zonar Verify to check riders against the day's route, RouteBoard for dispatchers to push day-of changes, and the MyView parent app so families can see where the bus is. The V4 ties it together and logs door events through its inputs.

Which Features Need Which Hardware?

When a fleet tells us which features it wants, we work back to the hardware and cables, so nothing is missing on install day.

Can Zonar stop a vehicle from starting?
