Who We Serve in Chattanooga

Which fleets run out of Chattanooga and Hamilton County?

Hamilton County had 386,256 residents in July 2024, up 5.3% from the 2020 census base, and the Census Bureau's 2019 to 2023 figure for the average commute is 21.9 minutes. The trades that serve that growth are the fleets we meet most: electricians, plumbers, HVAC companies, roofers and landscapers with 1 to 10 vehicles, based in Chattanooga, East Ridge, Red Bank or Ooltewah, and working jobs from the river to the top of Signal Mountain and across the Georgia line.

Cars, and the trucks that feed them, are a large part of the industrial picture. Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant builds the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, and Volkswagen reports about 150,000 vehicles produced there in 2025. The Chattanooga Area Chamber's 2026 employer list, which is self-reported, shows 3,937 people at the plant at the end of 2025, and names Schnellecke Logistics (440 employees), Kenco Group (862), Tranco Logistics (161) and U.S. Xpress (747) as logistics and trucking employers. In April 2026 Volkswagen said ID.4 assembly there would end that month.

Ooltewah is the headquarters of Miller Industries, which calls itself the world's largest manufacturer of towing and recovery equipment, so tow and recovery trucks are part of the local landscape. Heavy equipment and food plants add routes of their own: Astec Industries (1,689 employees on the chamber list), Komatsu America, Mueller Co., Pilgrim's Pride, a Coca-Cola bottler and the Signal Mountain Cement Plant are all listed, and the state's economic development department puts McKee Foods in Collegedale at 2,912 employees.

Utilities and hospitals add specialized fleets. The chamber list shows 3,748 employees at the Tennessee Valley Authority and 751 at EPB, the local electric, fiber and internet utility, while Erlanger Health System and CHI Memorial are the two largest hospital employers. Line, tree, fiber, pipe and facilities contractors work for all of them.

What We Install in Chattanooga

Installs set up for mountain grades, flash floods and a rebuilt interchange

Every major platform, installed for the vehicles and roads Hamilton County fleets really have: tow trucks and service vans, plant and route trucks, and crews that climb a mountain, cross a river and pass the Georgia line in the same day.

GPS Fleet Tracking

Trackers on wreckers, dump trucks, service vans and route trucks, with geofences at the foot of Lookout Mountain, along I-24 and around the I-75 interchange, so dispatch sees where a day is stuck and a trip across the state line reads clearly.

Dash & Backup Cameras

Road-facing dash cams that record the grade, the signs and the water ahead, driver-facing cameras where wanted, and rear cameras, side cameras and backup cameras on box trucks, dump trucks and wreckers working tight yards.

Telematics & Integrations

Motive, Samsara, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more, with PTO, boom, winch and light inputs on tow and service bodies, and engine data read from each chassis.

Chattanooga-Specific Considerations

What does a Chattanooga fleet install have to account for?

How should we plan around the I-75 and I-24 interchange and the work still ahead?

Treat the interchange as finished and the corridor as still changing. TDOT marked the completion of Phase II of the I-75 at I-24 interchange on April 24, 2026: I-24 was widened out to Germantown Road, I-75 out to East Brainerd Road, the ramps went to three lanes, and the interchange is fully open. The new Hamilton Place Mall interchange on I-75, which adds a southbound exit to Hamilton Place Boulevard, is expected to be finished by summer 2027, and TDOT's plan to widen I-24 from the Georgia line toward I-124 near downtown lists on-site construction as expected to begin in late 2027 or 2028.

For a fleet, that means three things. We put a geofence on each stretch and have the platform report trip time through it, so a normal run is measured before the lane closures start. We schedule installs for yards near Brainerd, East Ridge and Ooltewah around announced ramp closures. And we set dispatch alerts for the corridor, so a late arrival in the report comes with a cause attached.

What happens when a truck follows its GPS up Lookout Mountain?

It can end up on a road never meant for it, and in July 2026 that shut the mountain. The Chattanoogan's report on a Lookout Mountain, Tennessee town meeting says truck wrecks closed Ochs Highway, Scenic Highway and Nickajack Road on one Friday that month, leaving the Incline as the only way on or off the mountain and Chattanooga emergency responders with no road access. The town does not own them: Scenic Highway is state-controlled, TDOT and Chattanooga share Ochs Highway up to the state line, and truck traffic may not be banned on state-owned roads. The town's fire and police commissioner said commercial-grade GPS, rather than the consumer navigation most drivers use, could help.

Signal Mountain has had the same trouble. In 2020 a resident counted six signs prohibiting trucks on W Road and Roberts Mill Road and told WTVC that drivers ignore them, and a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said GPS does not account for vehicle size. Our part is the early warning and the proof. We place geofences at the foot of the mountain roads, so dispatch hears when a truck turns toward the climb, and we mount a road-facing dash cam where it records the signs, the grade and the turn. The GPS track then shows the route and the video shows what the driver saw, which settles a citation or an insurance claim.

What should a fleet's system show after a flash flood like August 12, 2025?

It should show where every truck was, when each one stopped and what the driver was looking at. Chattanooga Airport recorded 6.42 inches of rain on August 12, 2025, which the National Weather Service called the second wettest day in the city's history since records began in 1879, and TDOT called it a once-in-a-century storm. I-24, Brainerd Road, Ringgold Road, Bonny Oaks Drive and SR 153 were among the roads affected, the alternate routes flooded too, and TDOT's Region 2 director said crews had to go to plans B and C.

We treat that night as the test case. A tracker records last position and ignition status, so a stranded truck has a known location, and a geofence on the low roads a fleet depends on tells dispatch the moment a truck enters one. A road-facing dash cam keeps the clip of the water ahead and the decision to drive into it, which matters because video of that flooding showed a tractor-trailer driving through water that reached its trailer. After a storm day, the report to pull is position and speed from mid-afternoon on, plus every dash cam event in that window.

How do you wire a tow truck whose body was built in Ooltewah?

The chassis and the body come from different makers, so we wire them as two separate jobs. Miller Industries, headquartered in Ooltewah, says it designs and builds the bodies of car carriers and wreckers mounted on third-party chassis and that its wreckers range from 4 to 100 tons. The bodies carry brand names such as Century, Vulcan and Holmes. In March 2026 its board authorized a plant expansion in Ooltewah, estimated at about $100 million, with building work to start in late 2026.

On the chassis we connect a tracker at the diagnostic connector with a pass-through harness, which gives it power, ignition status and engine data. On the body we connect the inputs that tell a manager what the truck is doing: the hydraulic pump or PTO engaged, the boom or underlift working, the winch in use and the light bar on. Rear cameras and side cameras cover the scene work, and a road-facing dash cam records the traffic a recovery crew works beside. The report then shows arrival, scene time and winch time for every call.

Questions From Chattanooga Fleet Managers

What do Chattanooga fleet managers ask us?

Do you install for Chattanooga businesses with 1 to 10 vehicles?

Yes. Three vans or a hundred trucks, the wiring and the checks are the same. For 1 to 10 vehicles we plan a single visit to the yard or the owner's driveway, set for when the crews are off the road. Typical scheduling is 3 to 5 days out, and an installer completes 15 to 20 vehicles a day on a basic GPS job.

Which GPS and dash cam systems do you install in Chattanooga?

Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp, Motive, Samsara, Verizon Connect, Geotab and more. We are independent and we install the system you have chosen, and we also offer equipment. If a customer you haul for requires its own device on the truck, we install that as well.

Do you cover Ooltewah, Red Bank, Soddy-Daisy and Signal Mountain?

Yes, and Collegedale, East Ridge, Lakesite, Walden, Lookout Mountain and Lookout Valley as well. If you are searching for fleet GPS tracker installation near me in Hamilton, Bradley or Marion County, we are the mobile installer who comes to the yard, and vehicles kept in several towns are planned as a single job.

Do you set up trucks that cross into Georgia every day?

Yes. I-75's first exit in Tennessee, Ringgold Road, sits just past the state line in East Ridge, and TDOT's I-24 widening plan starts at the I-24 and I-59 interchange in Dade County, Georgia. We install in both states, and for crews working both sides we switch on the platform's miles-by-state report and check it at install.

How do we measure waiting time at a plant gate in the Enterprise South park?

With a geofence around the gate or the yard. Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant sits within the Enterprise South Industrial Park, and I-75 Exit 9 is signed for Volkswagen Drive. We draw the geofence at install, and the dwell-time report then shows arrival, wait and departure for every visit, so a late haul can be traced to the gate or to the road.
