The IOX-SATIRDv2 shows its status with a red power light and a green connection light on the Iridium modem, while the GO device beeps after an alert press. Each state plays below, with specs, parts and install checks.
Two LEDs sit on the Iridium modem, at the end where the antenna and IOX cable plug in: red for power, green for connection status. Geotab publishes no blink patterns, so our player shows each light only on or off. The sound comes from the GO device, which beeps after an alert press until MyGeotab has the message. Tap any button below to see it and hear what it means.
🔊 The IOX-SATIRDv2 uses lights and GO device beeps. Turn your sound on.
Easy way to remember it: Red means power. Green means the link. Beeping means the alert is still on its way.

Each button plays the pattern on the IOX-SATIRDv2 above, says out loud what it means, and tells you what to do.
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red on | The modem has power | Nothing; expected whenever it is connected |
| Green on | Geotab's connection status light; no pattern table is published | Prove the link with an alert button press |
| Red off | No power showing at the modem | Have our technicians check the IOX cable and GO device |
Geotab publishes only the colors and roles, so a flashing light is something to confirm with the alert test, not a fixed code.
| Beeps | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| GO device beeping after an alert press | The alert log is being transmitted | Wait; the message is on its way to MyGeotab |
| Beeping stops | MyGeotab received the message, and the driver is notified of the acknowledgement | Nothing; the alert got through |
| Beeping that never stops | The message has not reached MyGeotab | Our technicians check activation and the antenna's sky view |
For drivers there is one job: press the alert button only in a real emergency, then listen for the GO device to stop beeping, which tells them the office has the message. Everything else runs on its own. While the truck is beyond cell range the kit sends ignition changes, possible collisions above 2.5 g, movement with the ignition off and a log of lost cellular coverage over satellite.
In the office, dispatch can request a position from the vehicle's map card, and the alert button rule decides who is notified. Reporting is event based, not a continuous trail, and suspending the GO device does not shut off the modem.
The kit attaches to the GO device's IOX port, and the GO device keeps its normal vehicle harness, for example the HRN-GS09K2-A on a 9-pin heavy truck. Inside the kit:
An IOX-AUXM can be chained so an auxiliary input sends its alert by satellite. Fleets that never leave coverage can use the IOX-ALERT instead.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Indicators | Red power LED and green connection LED on the modem; alert beeps from the GO device |
| Network | Iridium satellite |
| Power | 12 V / 24 V nominal; 900 mA max including the modem |
| Modem supply | 5.0 V; 156 mA idle, 1.3 A peak transmit |
| Temperature | -40 to +85 °C for the IOX and the modem |
| IOX cable | 1810 mm, 31 x 16 mm, 70 g, PC+ABS |
| Modem | 80 mm long, 54 x 23 mm, 158 g, aluminum |
| Works with | GO7 and newer devices and variants |
Confirm the activation ticket went in a full day ahead, or the alert test fails however clean the install is. Still in cell range, check the red light, press the alert button and wait for the beeping to end; that silence proves the satellite path. Make sure the antenna has open sky and both cables are seated at the LED end of the modem. Cycle the ignition and get a PASS before the truck heads out.
Red means power. Green means the link. Beeping means the alert is still on its way. Once MyGeotab receives the alert message, the GO device stops beeping.
Geotab names the red light power and the green light connection status, but it does not publish any flash patterns for them. Our technicians judge the modem by the alert button test and the device status check instead.
The beeping lasts while the alert travels over satellite and stops once MyGeotab receives it. If it never stops, the usual suspects are an inactive modem or an antenna without a clear view of the sky.
When an alert test won't clear or the modem stays dark, our technicians sort out activation, antenna and wiring on site. Ring 803-513-1009 or request a visit through Get a Quote.
