The HRN-XCW03K3 is Geotab's three-wire harness kit that powers a GO10 or GO10 Plus from constant power, ground and ignition when no diagnostic port is available. It ships with a 5 A fuse kit for the hardwired connections.

The HRN-XCW03K3 is a three-wire power harness kit for the Geotab GO10 and GO10 Plus, used when a vehicle or machine has no diagnostic port the device can use. Instead of plugging into a data connector, the GO10 is wired directly to constant power, ground and ignition. The kit contains the HRN-XCW03S3 straight harness, delivered in two disconnected sections, plus the HRN-5AFUSEKIT 5 amp fuse kit.
This is the harness for the oddballs in a fleet. Golf carts, generators, older vehicles built before diagnostic ports were standard, and equipment that only needs location tracking all end up here. Geotab lists it as the GO10 replacement for the HRN-CW03K3 and HRN-CW03K3-A.
Geotab aims this kit at two situations: vehicles without an accessible diagnostic port, giving golf carts, generators and older vehicles as examples, and tracking where the device is not meant to connect to the vehicle bus, such as asset tracking. Only a GO10 or GO10 Plus will mate with its device plug; earlier GO units will not.
The harness identification guide lists it at 90 cm (35.4 in), and the product sheet gives a maximum length of 925 mm and a weight of 105.6 g. Its power rating is 12 V to 24 V at 5 A, which suits both light and heavy electrical systems. No other harness is listed as required.
Many fleet assets were never designed to talk to a scan tool. A yard generator, a utility cart or a vintage truck still needs to show up on the map and log hours of use, and the only reliable signals available are battery power and the key switch. Three wires deliver exactly that.
It also helps when a customer wants location only. A trailer-mounted unit or a piece of rental gear does not need engine codes, and wiring to power keeps the device away from any vehicle network. In our experience the hardwired route is often the cleaner job on equipment where a diagnostic connector, if one exists at all, is buried or exposed to weather.
Hardwiring takes more care than plugging in a connector, which is why Geotab specifies a Geotab Authorized Installer. Our process follows the GO10 instructions and Geotab's harness assembly guide:
Even without a diagnostic connector in the chain, the connected harness chain itself must not exceed Geotab's 2 m (6.5 ft) total, and no T-harness gets coupled to another. Once everything is tied off away from pedals, moving parts and heat, we cycle the key and watch the GO10 come online in MyGeotab or MyInstall to confirm ignition on and off are being logged correctly.

The most common fault on three-wire installs is a bad ignition choice. Any circuit that is live in accessory, or one that drops out while cranking will make trips look wrong, so we test every position of the key before connecting yellow. A painted or rusty ground causes intermittent resets; clean metal or a factory ground stud is the safe bet. Keep the fuses close to the power source and protect every splice from moisture, because these assets often live outdoors.
Red goes to constant battery power, black goes to a verified ground, and yellow goes to a true ignition source that reads voltage in ON and RUN and zero in OFF.
It only carries power, ground and an ignition signal. Geotab describes uses such as asset tracking where the device is not connected to the vehicle bus, so engine diagnostics are not part of a three-wire install.
No. The GO10 uses its own connector, and Geotab lists the HRN-XCW03K3 as the replacement for both the HRN-CW03K3 and the HRN-CW03K3-A.
