What Is the GO Focus Pro?

The GO Focus Pro is a windshield-mounted AI dash cam that acts as the hub for a system of auxiliary cameras. On its own it records the road and the cabin in 1080p. Add side, rear and driver monitoring cameras and it becomes a 360-degree view of a vehicle, a job the smaller Focus models were not built for.

Unlike the GO Focus, which draws power through the IOX port, the Pro is wired to the vehicle with a three-wire power harness. It still pairs automatically with a GO9 or newer device when an IOX harness links the two, and it calibrates itself, so nobody has to measure mounting height or vertical offset. It comes in a dual-lens version and a Road-Only version.

What Does the GO Focus Pro Do?

  • Pre-collision and forward collision warnings. The dash cam warns the driver in the cab, by alert tone or voice prompt, when a collision risk builds ahead.
  • Traffic light detection. It recognizes signals and can flag a driver who fails to slow for a yellow or runs a red.
  • Automated license plate recognition. Plate reads help identify other vehicles involved in hit-and-runs, thefts and similar incidents.
  • Blind-spot detection. With side cameras, it watches for pedestrians, motorbikes and low objects such as bollards, curbs and speed bumps. Blind Spot Warning needs a GO9 or newer device.
  • Up to five auxiliary cameras. Four side or external rear positions plus one more rear camera, several in IP69K housings for exterior mounting.
  • Zero Latency Monitor. A TVI display in the cab shows video feeds in real time for backing and tight maneuvers.
  • Driver monitoring and ID. Distraction score, Smart Driver ID through AI or existing NFC and RFID credentials, and an optional auxiliary panic button.
  • Dual SD slots. Up to 1 TB per slot for 2 TB total, with live video available from trip history.

What Do Fleets Use the GO Focus Pro For?

Box trucks and beverage or food distribution. Docking, backing into alleys and loading in cramped lots is where these trucks collect most damage. Side and rear cameras plus the in-cab monitor target exactly those low-speed hits.

Refuse and roll-off haulers. External auxiliary cameras rated IP69K are built to survive pressure washing and weather, and blind-spot detection helps on residential routes full of pedestrians and parked cars.

Transit and school transportation. Large passenger vehicles benefit from the surround view and the driver monitoring camera, which Geotab offers for cabins with unusual layouts or mounting obstructions.

Construction and utility trucks. Bucket trucks and dump trucks on job sites get side coverage, and surround footage speeds up claims when something is struck.

What Should Installers Know About the GO Focus Pro?

The Pro's harness is the detail that trips people up. Geotab's guide maps it as red to ACC, yellow to constant B+ and black to ground, which is not the color logic many technicians expect, so confirm each fuse slot with a multimeter before tapping. Geotab's sequence has the dash cam powered temporarily on fuse taps first, activated by scanning the box serial in the Geotab Video app, and positioned using the app's live view before the adhesive comes off. Check that the lowered sun visor does not cover the cabin lens. The same glass temperature window applies as other Focus models, 70°F to 100°F. After aiming the road lens at the horizon and the cabin lens at the seated driver, the bracket gets a second 30-second press, the harness runs behind the headliner and A-pillar, and the permanent fuse tap connections are made behind the fuse panel.

Who Is the GO Focus Pro Right For, and Who Should Choose Something Else?

The GO Focus Pro fits vehicles where the driver cannot see everything from the seat: straight trucks, buses, refuse units and anything that backs up for a living.

A small fleet of pickups or cargo vans usually does not need five auxiliary cameras. Those vehicles are typically better matched to the GO Focus Plus for driver coaching, or the GO Focus for road-only evidence, at a lower hardware and labor cost.

What Are Common Questions About the GO Focus Pro?

Can we use our own SD cards to add storage?

No. Geotab supports only its own provided cards in the Pro. We supply the larger 512 GB and 1 TB Geotab cards, and the second slot doubles capacity.

Do we have to install all five auxiliary cameras?

No. The main unit works by itself, and auxiliary cameras are added where a vehicle needs them, such as a single rear camera on a van or full side coverage on a large truck.

Does it work with a GO8?

Geotab ties auto-pairing and Blind Spot Warning to a GO9 or newer device. On older GO hardware, we plan the device upgrade into the same visit as the dash cam.
