Geotab GO Focus Plus

The GO Focus Plus adds a cabin lens and in-cab voice coaching to Geotab video. It flags distraction, fatigue and tailgating as they happen, then hands the worst events to a manager.

What Is the GO Focus Plus?

The GO Focus Plus is a compact windshield dash cam that pairs a 1080p road lens with a 720p cabin lens, joined to a Geotab GO9 or GO9 RUGGED through a dedicated Smart Cable. It runs its AI on board, using an eight-core processor with a GPU and an AI accelerator, so detection happens in the vehicle rather than waiting on an upload.

Where it differs most from a road-only dash cam is the feedback loop. The unit talks to the driver. When it sees a risky behavior it gives a spoken alert in the cab, and the serious or repeated events go up to a manager with a coaching workflow attached. A Road-Only version also exists for fleets that want the Plus hardware without a cabin lens.

Two lenses, a cabin infrared light and a badge reader share one housing.

What Does the GO Focus Plus Do?

  • Driver monitoring. The cabin lens, with a 940 nm infrared illuminator for low light, supports detection of distracted driving and fatigue.
  • Driver assistance rules. Tailgating and hard braking are among the road-side detections, and rule thresholds can be tuned per customer.
  • In-cab voice alerts. Drivers hear a warning at the moment of the behavior, which gives them a chance to correct it before a manager ever sees it.
  • Smart Sequence. Events are ranked so the riskiest ones surface first, which saves a manager from scrubbing hours of clips.
  • Coaching workflow and Smart Driver ID. Events are matched to the right driver, and coaching can be assigned and tracked in MyGeotab with the driver seeing it in a mobile app.
  • Built-in card reader. NFC and HF RFID support lets drivers badge in for identification.
  • Auxiliary rear camera support. An in-cabin rear camera or an external rear camera can be added to cover the road behind.
  • Live view. Geotab lists live video access from the trips history page.

What Do Fleets Use the GO Focus Plus For?

Last-mile and parcel delivery. Drivers glancing at phones and handhelds between stops is the classic distraction problem. Real-time voice alerts address it in the moment rather than in a review meeting a week later.

Field service with long drive days. Pest control, lawn care and cable technicians often drive many hours across a day. Fatigue detection and following-distance rules target the risks that build up on those routes.

Passenger transport. Shuttle and paratransit operators use the cabin view and the optional rear camera to document what happened inside and behind the vehicle.

Fleets building a formal safety program. Companies with an insurance carrier asking for documented coaching get a workflow that records who was coached, on what, and when.

What Should Installers Know About the GO Focus Plus?

Placement drives the quality of everything this dash cam reports. Geotab's guide puts it high and near the center of the windshield, beside or behind the mirror, with the road lens inside the wiper sweep and both lenses clear of tint bands, toll tags and sensor housings. The glass must be between 70°F and 100°F when the adhesive goes on, and Geotab recommends the defroster to bring cold glass into range. Keep fingers off the cleaned area, since skin oil weakens the bond. The cable runs behind the headliner and down the driver's A-pillar, clear of the airbag path, then into the IOX port on the GO device. If extra length is needed, a straight harness to a T-harness is allowed, but the total must stay under 2 m. Aiming is done in the Geotab Video app: the driver sits normally while the cabin lens is set so the head is inside the guide box, then the road lens is set to the horizon. The install is logged in MyInstall with the dash cam ID included.

Who Is the GO Focus Plus Right For, and Who Should Choose Something Else?

The GO Focus Plus fits fleets that want to change driver behavior, not only collect evidence after a crash. If the goal is fewer phone glances, longer following distances and a record of coaching, the cabin lens and voice alerts are the reason to choose it.

Fleets where a driver-facing lens is off the table can still use the Road-Only Plus, or the simpler GO Focus. Box trucks, buses and equipment haulers that need side coverage, more than one auxiliary camera, plate recognition or traffic light detection are better served by the GO Focus Pro.

What Are Common Questions About the GO Focus Plus?

How much driving does the standard card hold?

Geotab estimates about 35 to 40 hours of dual-lens drive time on the included 128 GB card, less with an auxiliary camera attached. The 512 GB card stretches that to roughly 140 hours.

How long are event videos kept?

Event videos are kept in MyGeotab for 365 days by default. Anything that needs to be kept longer, such as footage tied to a claim, can be downloaded.

Can drivers blur or limit what the cabin lens shows?

Geotab lists privacy controls that include blurring. For fleets that want no cabin view at all, the Road-Only model drops the second lens entirely.

Our technicians bring the GO Focus Plus with them, fit it at your yard and aim both lenses with each driver in the seat. Reach us at 803-513-1009, or send the details through Get a Quote.
