The Next Gen GO Anywhere is a sealed, battery-only tracker meant to be bolted on once and left alone. It reports hourly, switches to 15-minute updates for recovery, and is rated for up to ten years of service.

The Next Gen GO Anywhere, listed in Geotab's support library as GO Anywhere 2, is a self-contained asset tracker with no wiring at all. A non-rechargeable lithium manganese dioxide pack powers it, and Geotab rates it for up to ten years of operation. Geotab describes the approach as deploy once: mount it, activate it and stop thinking about it.
It is aimed at the assets that never have power to tap, such as dumpsters, roll-off containers, dry van trailers and parked equipment. Geotab says the redesign was driven by reliability complaints customers had with earlier trackers, and the spec sheet reflects that with a larger battery pack, a modern LTE CAT-M1 modem and a four-constellation GNSS receiver in an IP67 and IP69K housing.
Waste and roll-off haulers. A roll-off company may have containers spread across dozens of customer sites. Hourly locations answer the dispatcher's daily question of which cans are where and which have been sitting too long.
Dry van and flatbed trailer pools. Trailers dropped at shipper docks tend to vanish from view. A tracker that needs no trailer power keeps them visible without a wiring job on every unit.
Portable storage and site services. Storage containers, portable toilets and site trailers sit in place for months, which fits a long-life device with hourly reporting.
Municipal and parks departments. Towable message boards, chippers and mowers parked in yards can be checked against the inventory list, and recovery mode helps if one leaves without authorization.

With no wiring, the work is all about placement and activation. Geotab's quick start has the devices added in MyGeotab first, then activated with the button in an outdoor spot with good cell coverage and open sky. A slow flash means activation is underway and the unit should not be handled; a fast flash for 15 seconds means it is configured and talking. A flash every 15 seconds points to weak cell service, and a double flash means no GPS fix, so move the asset and press the button again. Mount it where it can see the sky with as little metal around it as possible, using screws or the ACC-GAMAG magnet kit, which is sold separately. On containers that get dropped and dragged, screws into solid backing hold better than magnets. Geotab calls for professional installation by a certified installer or equivalent and validation through its installation tool, and our technicians complete both steps on every unit.
The Next Gen GO Anywhere fits unpowered assets that need a reliable daily picture of location and a way to chase a stolen unit, without anyone coming back to change batteries. It suits large pools of identical assets where per-unit labor needs to stay low.
It is not the choice for powered equipment where engine hours matter, or for anyone who needs near real-time movement or Bluetooth tag reading. Those needs point to the wired GO Anywhere Plus. Vehicles with a diagnostic port should get a GO vehicle device instead.
Geotab's support documentation for the Next Gen GO Anywhere lists the product name as GO Anywhere 2, and the published dimensions and weight match. Fleets will see both names.
Geotab's ten-year rating is tied to use, and reporting every 15 minutes consumes more energy than hourly check-ins. We suggest using high-frequency mode for recovery events rather than as a permanent setting.
Geotab documents no external power input for this model. If wiring to the asset is possible and useful, the GO Anywhere Plus is the device designed for it.
