Specs, pairing steps, battery change and portal status for the Azuga tool tag. No lights, no beeps documented.
This is the technical sheet for the beacon. It has no lights and no button to press, so there is no light simulator. What matters is pairing, mounting, the battery, and reading the With and Dropped status.
No light guide
Azuga does not list an LED on the Equipment Beacon. The only control it mentions is a power on and off switch, plus NFC configuration. With no light to read, there is no animation here.
🔇 Azuga does not mention a speaker or beeps on the Equipment Beacon.
That is silence in the documents. We treat it as silent in the field.
The web portal only gives you the QR code. The actual pairing happens in the app.
| Where | Steps |
|---|---|
| Web portal (get the QR code) | Admin, then Equipment. Filter by Unassociated. Open the equipment Details page to see the QR. |
| Azuga Fleet mobile app | Dashboard, then Equipment, then Menu, then Scanner. Scan the QR. Choose See Equipment History, then Associate Beacon. Hold the front of the beacon to the camera. Tap Associate Beacon. |
| Result | Azuga shows a success message in both places. |
| Status | What Azuga means |
|---|---|
| With | A tracker detects the beacon. |
| Dropped | No tracker detects it. The last known location is shown. |
| History page | Use it to see where the equipment has been. |
Azuga says the beacon advertises every 2 seconds. You can change the ping rate, but Azuga says that shortens battery life and recommends not changing it. Treat the 2 to 3 year battery life as the number for the default setting.
The beacon is a tag, not a tracker. It has no GPS and no cellular modem, so it cannot place itself on a map. Every location Azuga shows for it is borrowed from a tracker that heard it. If no tracker hears it, the portal marks it Dropped and shows only the last known place. Azuga's own page says beacons can deter theft but cannot prevent it or recover items. Plan the rollout around that: put trackers where the equipment lives, and use the beacon to tell you which one is near.
Azuga's steps do not include a record of what you did. We suggest writing down four things for every beacon, so a missing tool can be chased later.
| Record | Why |
|---|---|
| Equipment name in the portal | It matches the QR code you scanned. |
| Where the beacon is fixed | A beacon on the outside of a metal case is easier to hear than one inside it. |
| Battery install date | The cell is rated at 2 to 3 years or more. A date tells you when to plan a swap. |
| Which tracker should hear it | The system only works near a GV620MG, so note which vehicle that is. |
