This small card tells Azuga who is in the vehicle. The part is simple. The pairing rules are where installs go wrong, so most of this page is about those.

The Azuga shop lists a Bluetooth credit card sized beacon, part number AZ-BLE-20, at $15. It is described as a compact white beacon for Bluetooth Low Energy occupant recognition that tracks occupant presence and activity, built to be reliable and durable. We have not verified that this exact part is the driver ID tag, and Azuga's guides describe more than one kind of beacon card.
Azuga describes a beacon as a credit card sized device that broadcasts low-energy Bluetooth, runs on a battery of about two to three years, and has its own serial number and MAC address. It works without a smartphone. The Azuga OBD device scans for beacons when the ignition goes on, when it goes off, or both, depending on configuration, and reports what it finds to Azuga.
Azuga also documents a version with a push button in the centre and a red light that comes on when you press it. The light only confirms the press, not that pairing worked. The driver turns the ignition on, waits about thirty seconds, then presses once. Pressing late has no effect. Range is about 10 to 15 metres. If several people carry cards, the last driver to press becomes paired by default.
Azuga has not published which beacon card model this SKU is, its battery type, or whether it has a button. Ask Azuga to confirm before you buy cards for a fleet, because the button method and the automatic method are set up differently.
We did not find a driver key fob in the Azuga shop. A beacon card is how Azuga documents driver identification, but ask Azuga which type your account uses.
With automatic detection the first beacon detected becomes the driver and the other is an occupant. With the button method the last person to press becomes paired.
Azuga says a beacon works without a smartphone. The OBD device does the scanning.
