We install vehicle GPS tracking, dash cams, backup cameras and telematics on City of Fort Myers and Lee County fleets, from solid waste trucks and wastewater crews to police units and the generators, pumps and light towers that get towed out after a storm, working at your shop, plant or yard anywhere in Lee County.
Fort Myers keeps most of its heavy work in house. Public Works runs its own Solid Waste division for garbage, recycling, yard waste and roll-off collection, plus a Transportation Maintenance division covering streets, streetlights and traffic, and a Stormwater Operations crew. The city also runs two advanced regional wastewater plants that treat flow for Fort Myers and a large part of Lee County. The South plant alone was a $59.26 million job.
Public safety is the other big block of vehicles. The city's 2025 Popular Annual Financial Report lists 352 Police Department employees, 171 Fire Department employees and eight fire stations. In fiscal 2025 the city reported $1.39 million in police vehicle purchases. The Fire Department, founded in 1901, covers a response area of about 50 square miles and serves as the Region 6 hazardous materials team.
One accounting change matters for anyone planning telematics. Starting in 2025, solid waste trucks are budgeted and paid for in the Fleet Maintenance internal service fund and charged back to the department. When the fleet fund owns the truck, it makes sense for the fleet fund to own the data on how that truck is used.
Lee County runs a separate operation. Its Fleet Management shop sits on a 10-acre site at 2955 Van Buren Street, and the county's fleet page says it maintains more than 1,650 vehicles for 25 departments and divisions. The adopted budget for 2025 to 2026 is $16,880,593 with 40 full-time staff, and the county fuels at four of its own sites. In 2012 it became the first government fleet in the country certified Platinum Green Fleet by AEMP.
Every major telematics and dash cam platform, fitted at a city shop, a treatment plant or a county yard.
GPS fleet tracking on solid waste trucks, pickups, sedans and heavy equipment, plus sealed battery trackers on generators, pumps, light towers and trailers.
Road-facing and driver-facing AI dash cams, and backup camera installation on roll-off and collection trucks working tight residential streets.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar and more, with engine-hour and PTO inputs where a department needs them.
Because after a hurricane it ends up somewhere nobody wrote down. Portable generators, pumps and light towers get towed to lift stations, signals and shelters in a hurry, and the truck that dropped them is gone an hour later. A sealed battery tracker on the towed unit reports its own location for months, so the inventory after the storm is a map instead of a phone tree.
That paperwork follows the trucks. FEMA approved $4,212,798 for the city's Hurricane Ian debris removal. Two years later, police operating costs in the FEMA disaster grant fund rose $1.50 million because Milton required proactive public safety operations. Vehicle GPS tracking gives a time-stamped trail of where each unit worked and for how long, which is the kind of detail a reimbursement file asks for.
It helps. Lee County already tracks fuel through an automated fuel monitoring system at its four county-owned sites. Telematics adds idle time, engine hours and actual miles, so fleet management can see which units burn fuel standing still and which ones are working hard.
Carefully, and on their schedule. We fit AVL and GPS hardware on patrol units and apparatus without tapping the lighting, siren or radio circuits, and we book the work around shift change and the department's own upfit timeline. For the 22 officers assigned to school resource duty for 2025 to 2026, vehicle location helps dispatch see which units are tied up at campuses.
City departments, Lee County facilities and the communities around them.
City shop, plant, station or county yard: we install where the vehicles and equipment are kept.
Vehicles are priced per unit once we know the type and the platform. Battery trackers on generators, pumps and trailers are a separate, simpler install, so a mixed order is quoted line by line.
Yes. Early in the year is the best time, while generators and light towers are parked at the yard and easy to reach.
Yes. We fit GPS units, dash cams and backup cameras on collection and roll-off trucks and can wire arm or hoist inputs where the platform supports them.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar, Azuga and the other major platforms. We are an independent Geotab Authorized Installer and fit whichever system the city or county has chosen.
They can support one. Time-stamped trips and stops show where a vehicle worked and for how long; the city's emergency management team decides how that fits its documentation.
