We install vehicle GPS tracking, dash cams, backup cameras and telematics on City of Tampa and Hillsborough County fleets, from solid waste side loaders and water department service trucks to fire rescue support vehicles and county road crews, at the Hanna Avenue shop, the McKay Bay complex or any county yard.
Tampa keeps a large fleet and looks after most of it in house. Fleet Maintenance sits inside the city's Logistics and Asset Management department on East Hanna Avenue, and the city lists more than 3,000 vehicles plus equipment in its care, more than 15,000 repair orders a year, an authorized budget of $15.0 million, 55 positions and two facilities. It also runs fueling, buying and disposal, and a central motor pool for city staff downtown.
The departments behind those numbers are big ones. Tampa Police has more than 1,000 sworn officers working three patrol districts. Tampa Fire Rescue runs 23 fire stations and two rescue stations, covering MacDill Air Force Base as well as the city. The Water Department serves more than 733,000 people across a 220 square mile service area, with more than 2,200 miles of water mains and more than 14,000 hydrants, and its crews drive to all of them.
Solid waste is run by the city too. A 266 person team serves nearly 90,000 residential and commercial customers, and the department started putting compressed natural gas trucks on its routes in 2013. Its McKay Bay Complex holds the waste to energy plant, the transfer station and the scale house.
Hillsborough County runs a second fleet of about 3,700 vehicles and equipment assets worth $260 million, out of its shop on South 78th Street. It serves 30 county departments plus the constitutional offices, and it placed No. 25 on NAFA's 100 Best Fleets in the Americas for 2026. We install for the city, the county and the contractors who work for both.
Every major telematics and dash cam platform, fitted at the city shop, the McKay Bay complex or a county yard.
Vehicle GPS tracking on side loaders, rear loaders, service trucks, pickups, sedans and heavy equipment, plus battery trackers on trailers, pumps and generators.
Road-facing and driver-facing AI dash cams, and backup camera installation on collection trucks, utility bodies and anything that backs down an alley.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar and more, with arm, PTO and hydrant-crew inputs where the department needs them.
Because a stop is not a pickup. GPS fleet tracking shows the truck paused in front of a house. An input on the arm shows the cart was actually lifted and emptied there. With nearly 90,000 customers on city routes, that record answers most missed pickup calls before a supervisor has to drive out and look.
That the volume is huge and the paperwork follows the trucks. After Helene and Milton, more than 1.3 million cubic yards of debris came off Tampa streets and went to the McKay Bay Transfer Station, hauled by more than 450 contractors, and city solid waste workers ran seven days a week. Debris work is reimbursed on documented loads, so a truck trip log with times and locations is worth having before the next storm, not after it.
No, they get a lighter one. The city's capital plan set aside $127 million for fire rescue vehicles, and most of the 27 vehicles ordered since 2020 were rescues, since about nine calls in ten are medical. On rescues and support vehicles we fit AVL and vehicle location hardware, keep our wiring clear of the emergency lighting and siren circuits, and leave the patient care equipment alone.
Yes, by cutting the guesswork out of service intervals. Engine hours, idle time and fault codes come straight off the vehicle, so the shop can book work on real use instead of the calendar. On a fleet this size, that is the main reason fleet management teams add telematics in the first place.
City of Tampa facilities, Hillsborough County yards and the stations in between.
Shop, transfer station, plant or county yard: we install where the vehicles already park.
We quote per vehicle after we know the vehicle types and the platform. Side loaders with arm inputs and emergency vehicles take longer than pickups, so they are priced on their own line.
Yes. Collection trucks and patrol units run on fixed shifts, so we schedule around them and fit units while the vehicle would be parked anyway.
Yes. We fit road-facing and driver-facing AI dash cams, side views for the arm and backup cameras on side loaders and rear loaders.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar, Azuga and the other major platforms. We are an independent Geotab Authorized Installer and stay neutral on which one the city picks.
Yes. We install for county departments and constitutional offices, and for contractors on city and county work, at their yards or job sites.
