Wake County has not stopped growing. The Census Bureau put the county at 1,257,235 residents in July 2025, up 11.3% from 2020, and county planners describe the pace as about 66 new people a day. Building follows people: Wake County issued 8,113 building permits in 2025, with the City of Raleigh leading for residential permits at 1,416. Raleigh is one of twelve towns in an 857-square-mile county, so the work is spread from Wake Forest and Rolesville down to Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina.

That growth runs on trades. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, solar, landscaping, pest control, pool service and cleaning companies make up much of the commercial traffic on Wake County's streets, and most of them are businesses running 1 to 10 vehicles. We are glad to do that work. Home builders, site-work and concrete crews add pickups, service bodies and equipment trailers that move between neighborhoods under construction every week.

Holly Springs has become a construction market of its own. FUJIFILM Biotechnologies opened its commercial-scale cell culture site there in September 2025, a 3.2-billion-dollar first phase built around eight 20,000-liter bioreactors, and is adding a second phase on the way to 1,400 employees by 2031. Amgen cut the ribbon on its Holly Springs drug substance plant in January 2025 and broke ground the same day on a second facility; together the two buildings top 500,000 square feet. Projects that size keep mechanical, electrical, piping, crane and delivery contractors on the road every working day.

Stone and freight round out the picture. Martin Marietta, the aggregates company that traces its roots to a stone business started in Raleigh in 1939, is headquartered in Raleigh and runs three quarries in Wake County: the Raleigh-Durham Quarry on Triangle Drive, the Garner Quarry on East Garner Road and the Fuquay Quarry in Holly Springs. Their loads go out by dump truck to every one of those building sites. At RDU, the airport handled more than 175 million pounds of air cargo in 2025, feeding courier and expedite vans across I-40, I-440, I-540, US 1 and US 64.

What We Install in Raleigh

Set up for Wake County trades, job sites and haul routes

We install every major platform and set it up around how your vehicles actually work here, whether that is a van that goes home every night or a dump truck that runs to the scale house ten times a day.

GPS Fleet Tracking

Hardwired trackers on service vans parked overnight in driveways from Rolesville to Fuquay-Varina, on contractor pickups working the Holly Springs plant sites, and on dump trucks running to Wake County's quarries, with geofences drawn on gates, laydown yards, scale houses and cargo docks instead of on street addresses.

Dash & Backup Cameras

Road-facing and driver-facing cameras for crews driving I-40, I-440 and US 1 at rush hour, plus side and rear cameras on dump bodies, box trucks and ladder-rack vans backing into cul-de-sacs, laydown yards and cargo docks, wired so they record from the moment the ignition comes on.

Telematics & Integrations

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more, including heavy-duty engine data on haul trucks, engine-hour maintenance reminders on equipment that idles on site, and mixed hardware brought together on one account.

Raleigh-Specific Considerations

What makes fleet installs around Raleigh different?

Can you install on trucks that go home with the technician every night?

Yes, and around Raleigh that is normal for trades. A plumbing company based in Apex might have vans parked overnight in Holly Springs, Cary and Garner, and asking every technician to drive in early for an install costs a morning of paid calls. In a county this spread out, that lost time adds up fast.

We handle it two ways. If your crew meets at the shop, we install there as the vans arrive and have each one reporting on your platform before it leaves. If your technicians go straight from home to the first job, we plan our route by their addresses and install in the driveway where the van sits. Before we finish, we set up after-hours rules using whatever your platform offers for personal use or off-shift privacy, so a technician's evening is not logged like a service call.

How do contractors prove their hours on the Holly Springs plant sites?

With geofences drawn on the gates and work areas your crews actually use, not on the street address. A plant campus usually has one mailing address, but contractor trucks stop at laydown yards, construction gates and contractor parking that can sit well away from the front office where an address search drops its pin. Arrival times matched to that pin are wrong from day one.

We draw a separate geofence on each area your trucks work, name it the way your foremen talk about it, and set up a report showing arrival, departure and time on site per truck. That gives your office a record to set against time sheets when a general contractor questions the hours. When your crews move from one building phase to the next, adding the new fence takes a few minutes, and we show whoever runs your office how to do it.

Can you install on dump trucks that haul out of Wake County's quarries?

Yes, and the schedule is set by the scale house. Martin Marietta lists weekday hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at its Raleigh-Durham, Garner and Fuquay quarries, so a haul truck's day is built around those gates. We install before the first load or after the last one, so no truck loses a run for the work.

Haul trucks also get different mounting. We bolt the tracker and camera recorder solidly in the cab rather than leaving them loose under a seat, use sealed connections on the chassis wiring because quarry dust and washdown water get into everything, and run camera cable in loom along the frame, well clear of the dump body hinge. Then we geofence the scale house at each quarry you load from, so every trip through the scales shows up in your report and can be checked against paper tickets.

What should couriers running to RDU set up differently?

Treat the airport as two destinations, not one. FedEx and UPS work from RDU's North Cargo area, while Delta Cargo, which is set up for specialized pharmacy shipments, works from South Cargo. A single geofence around the whole airport tells you a driver was there, but not which dock they went to or how long the handoff took.

We draw separate fences on each cargo area your drivers use and set a dwell alert, so a long wait at the counter shows up as a wait instead of looking like slow driving. The airfield is also mid-rebuild: RDU broke ground on its 10,639-foot replacement runway in October 2023 and expects to finish in 2029. For the site and haul contractors on that job, we set engine-hour reporting on equipment and road-facing cameras on trucks crossing busy airport roads.

Questions From Raleigh Fleet Managers

What do Raleigh public fleet managers ask us?

Do you install for a Raleigh-area business with only 1 to 10 vehicles?

Yes. A Knightdale HVAC company with three vans gets the same technicians, the same wiring standard and the same testing as a contractor running sixty trucks to Holly Springs. A fleet that size is usually finished in one visit at your shop or wherever the vans park, and we confirm every vehicle is reporting on your platform before we leave.

Which GPS and camera platforms do you install around Raleigh?

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more. Contractor crews who come to the Triangle for plant and runway work often arrive with whatever platform their home office chose, while local trades picked theirs on their own, so one yard can hold three brands. We install all of them and set each one up for how the trucks work in Wake County.

Will an OBD tracker cause trouble at a Wake County inspection?

Not when it is installed properly. North Carolina still requires an annual safety inspection before a registration can be renewed, and Wake is one of 19 counties where vehicles also get an OBD emissions check at the same visit. Because that check uses the diagnostic port, we either hardwire the tracker and leave the port free or fit a splitter cable so the inspector can plug in. State law has been passed to end emissions testing in those counties, but as of September 2026 it was not yet in effect: EPA proposed approval in May 2026, and the change starts only after EPA approves it and state regulators and NCDMV finalize it.

Do you cover Cary, Apex, Wake Forest and the rest of Wake County?

Yes. We install throughout the Raleigh metro, including Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Knightdale, Wake Forest, Rolesville and Wendell, and out into Johnston, Franklin and Chatham counties. We come to your shop, yard, job site or driveway, so your vehicles never leave their normal routine for the install.

Can you fit cameras on ladder-rack vans and solar crew trucks?

Yes. On vans with ladder racks we mount the rear camera where the rack and ladders will not block it, and route the cable inside the body rather than along the roof. For solar and landscaping crews towing equipment trailers, we can add a trailer camera with a plug at the hitch, so the trailer can be dropped at a job site without cutting any wires.
