Fifteen minutes away in Kernersville, a FedEx Ground regional hub runs 410,000 square feet on 125 acres processing 15,000 packages an hour with capacity to reach 45,000.
Volvo Trucks North America is headquartered here along with its 24/7 Uptime Center, putting heavy-truck engineering and fleet support operations right in the middle of the local vehicle base.
Two enormous projects are reshaping the local fleet picture. JetZero selected PTI for a $4.7 billion blended-wing aircraft plant committing to more than 14,560 jobs — the largest job commitment in North Carolina history — and broke ground in June 2026. Thirty minutes south in Liberty, Toyota's $13.9 billion battery plant opened in November 2025 with 5,100-plus jobs, generating three-county supply chain truck traffic.
Honda Aircraft Company has had its world headquarters at PTI since 2006 with 1,800-plus employees, and HAECO Americas runs heavy aircraft maintenance from the same field. Publix invested $400 million in a McLeansville distribution center with 1,000 jobs. Cone Health at 13,000-plus is the region's largest healthcare employer, and Amazon's Kernersville fulfillment center adds 1,000-plus more.

North Carolina requires an annual safety inspection on every registered vehicle in all 100 counties — you can't renew registration without it. Guilford County is currently on the 19-county emissions list, and so is Randolph, meaning both the city and the Toyota megasite corridor are affected. EPA proposed approval in May 2026 of the state's plan to end emissions testing, so treat it as still required and verify with NCDMV before renewal. Diesel vehicles are already exempt from the emissions portion.
