The IOX-OUTPUTM gives a GO device one relay output that MyGeotab can switch when a rule fires. Here is what fleets switch with it, why Geotab says not to rely on it for immobilization, and how it is wired.

Most IOX modules bring information into a Geotab GO device. The IOX-OUTPUTM works in the other direction. It is an IOX expansion module with a single relay driver output, which lets the GO device energize a relay coil on command. That relay can then switch a light, a buzzer, a door lock circuit or an input on another device.
The output is set in MyGeotab to activate when a defined condition is met, and Geotab also provides an SDK Add-In that turns it on and off manually for testing. One IOX-OUTPUTM is supported per GO device, and it drives one relay.
Fleets often ask whether this module can stop a vehicle from starting. Geotab's documentation states the IOX-OUTPUTM is not designed to be fail-safe and is not recommended for safety-critical applications, and that it does not replace a vehicle's own safety systems. Geotab has also said in its community that it does not support relay control for immobilization. We follow that guidance and do not wire this module into starter or ignition circuits. Fleets that need to restrict who can drive should look at the NFC reader with its relay kit or Geotab's keyless offerings, configured as Geotab documents them.

The IOX-OUTPUTM does not power a load directly. Its white wire sinks a relay coil, with the other side of the coil on battery positive, and the relay's contacts handle the device being switched. Coil choice matters: roughly 80 ohms for a 12 volt vehicle and 160 ohms for 24 volt, so the output stays under its 150 mA limit. The black ground goes to chassis with the ring terminal, and Geotab's install guide shows a self-tapping screw into the metal dash frame. Geotab requires a certified or equally qualified installer. The GO device is unplugged before anything connects, the IOX is plugged in before power up, and the module is kept inside the cab since it has no IP rating. We test the relay with Geotab's Add-In before handing the vehicle back.
This module fits fleets that want MyGeotab to make something happen in the vehicle: a light, a buzzer, a lock or a dash cam tag. It is a single output, so fleets needing several switched circuits will need another approach. It does not read anything; for monitoring equipment such as PTO or doors, the IOX-AUXM is the right part. It is not a security immobilizer, and we will not present it as one.
No. The output is rated for a relay coil at up to 150 mA. The light bar is powered through the relay contacts, which are sized for that load.
Geotab offers an SDK Add-In that toggles the output on and off from MyGeotab. We use it to confirm the relay clicks and the load responds.
Geotab's marketplace states that one IOX-OUTPUTM is supported per GO device, with one relay. We can supply and install it and help plan which single function gives the most value.
If a relay output fits your plan, API Signal supplies the IOX-OUTPUTM and relay, wires the circuit at your yard, and proves it with Geotab's test Add-In before we leave. Phone 803-513-1009 or fill out Get a Quote to book it.
