The IOX-GOTALK gives drivers a spoken explanation instead of a beep, so they know exactly which habit triggered the alert. Here is what it says, how it is configured, and what matters at install time.

The IOX-GOTALK is a text-to-speech speaker module that plugs into the IOX expansion port of a Geotab GO device. Where a standard GO device beeps when a driver crosses a threshold, the GOTALK announces the reason out loud. A driver hears a phrase about speeding, idling or an unbuckled seat belt, and can correct it right then without guessing what the beep meant.
Geotab positions the module as a coaching tool. Because the alert names the behavior every time, drivers learn the rules of the program as they drive, and managers spend less time explaining exceptions after the fact. Geotab's documentation lists the product as IOX-GOTALK and IOX-GOTALKA without describing a difference between the two.

The GOTALK draws far more current while speaking than most IOX modules, up to 600 mA, so we add up the maximum draw of every module in the chain before installing and keep the total within the GO device's daisy chain limit. The speaker mounts with two screws in a spot that does not interfere with driving and where it can be heard with windows down. The cable length, about 2.4 meters, sets how far it can sit from the GO device. Once plugged in and powered, the unit should announce that it is connected, and MyGeotab's Audio feedback tab should show it as connected after an ignition cycle. Only the last IOX in the chain keeps its termination shunt.
The GOTALK fits fleets running an active driver coaching program that want alerts drivers understand without training on beep patterns. It suits mixed fleets and multilingual teams well. Fleets on Base or Regulatory plans should know that only four device-based rules are spoken on those plans: driver ID reminder, idling, speeding and approaching the speed limit. If drivers simply cannot hear the existing beep and do not need words, the IOX-BUZZ is a lower-draw alternative.
Device-based rules such as speeding and idling run on the GO device and are spoken in real time without coverage. Custom server-based messages need a connection to MyGeotab and may be dropped if delayed.
Yes. A text template is created under the rules notification templates, then attached to a rule as GO TALK driver feedback. The text should be written in the language set for that vehicle.
No. Some alerts depend on engine data and plan level, and engine data support varies by make, model and year. We can review which alerts a fleet's vehicles and plan support before we supply and install the units.
