When a resident says their can was missed, the route record answers it. We wire the packer into the tracker on rear loader and other refuse trucks, so every stop where the packer ran is on the map with the time.
Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.
Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.
The packer blade runs on hydraulics from the PTO. Each packer cycle is recorded with the location, so a route shows every stop that was serviced and when. Haulers and municipal sanitation departments use it to answer missed pickup calls in seconds, and to see how long each route really takes.
Refuse trucks often run cameras too. See our garbage truck camera and GPS installation page.
Rear loaders, front loaders, side loaders and automated side loaders all run their packers and arms on hydraulics. On front and side loaders the arm has its own cycle, and where the truck's body controller has an arm or lift output, that can go to a second input, so each can lifted is counted as well as each packer cycle. Roll-off trucks are covered on our roll-off and hooklift tracking page.
Missed pickup calls are the most common use: the office looks at the street, sees whether the packer ran there and when, and answers the customer while they are still on the phone. The same records show how long each route really takes, which helps with route planning, driver pay and pricing new contracts. For municipal fleets, they are proof of service for the council and residents.
We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.
Every major tracking platform can record packer signals, and we wire them into all of them. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
