Vacuum, septic and sewer trucks

Vacuum, Septic & Sewer Truck Tracking: Pump Hours at Every Job

Vacuum and sewer trucks bill for time on the pump, and the pump is also the most expensive thing to fix. We wire the vacuum pump, the jetter and the blower into the tracker, so pump time is recorded at each site.

Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.

What do we monitor on vacuum, septic and sewer trucks?

Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.

How are septic truck pump hours tracked?

The vacuum pump runs from the truck's PTO. The PTO signal records pump time at each tank or site. Septic and liquid waste companies use it to bill by the job, confirm a pump-out happened at the right address, and service the pump on hours.

What does sewer jetter monitoring show?

A jetter's high pressure pump runs from the PTO or an auxiliary engine. Its run signal shows jetting time at each manhole, which municipal crews use for maintenance records.

Can leaf collection be tracked?

Yes. The leaf vacuum's blower runs from an auxiliary engine or PTO. Its on signal shows which streets had leaf pickup and when, which answers resident calls during collection season.

Where is hydro excavation covered?

Hydro excavators combine a vacuum and a water pump. See our hydro excavator monitoring page.

What should a vacuum truck company tell us before the job?

These trucks run in wet, dirty conditions, so every connection is sealed and the wiring is routed away from the pump's heat and the tank's washdown.

What does the office see once it is wired in?

How do we wire and test it?

We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.

Which GPS tracking brands do we install?

Every major tracking platform can record pump signals, and we wire them into all of them. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
