We install vehicle GPS tracking, dash cams, backup cameras and telematics on City of Daytona Beach and Volusia County fleets, from police and fire units to utilities trucks, motor pool vehicles and county equipment, working at your shop, station or yard anywhere in Volusia County.
Daytona Beach is in the middle of rebuilding how it buys vehicles. The city says it has spent about $9.9 million replacing 216 vehicles since 2022, and in September 2026 it announced a Vehicle Acquisition Program, expected in the 2027 budget, that puts Public Works Fleet Management in charge of the whole fleet on a 10-year or 100,000-mile cycle. Before that, by the city's own account, there was no formal replacement plan.
Police account for a big share of the vehicles. The Daytona Beach Police Department has about 250 full-time officers, 50 part-time officers and 75 special events officers, and its calls for service rose from 143,498 in 2021 to 157,569 in 2025. The 84 police vehicles still in service when the program was announced included 2011 and 2014 models. The 2025 to 2026 budget also carries $920,000 to replace the rugged laptops in patrol vehicles.
Fire runs a fleet of its own. Daytona Beach Fire has seven stations, about 26,000 responses a year, and more than 50 vehicles, including six engines, a quint, three rescue trucks, two brush trucks and five medic motorcycles, with its own fire fleet mechanics. On the utility side, the city draws water from 24 deep wells into the Ralph Brennan plant on LPGA Boulevard, and the budget includes $1,478,300 for utilities vehicle replacement. Garbage collection is contracted out.
Every major telematics and dash cam platform, fitted at a city shop, a fire station or a county yard.
GPS fleet tracking on sedans, SUVs, pickups, utilities trucks and county equipment, plus battery trackers on trailers and portable pumps.
Road-facing and driver-facing AI dash cams, and backup camera installation on utilities trucks and SUVs that back into lift stations and tight lots.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar and more, with AVL for dispatch and engine-hour reporting where it helps.
Because a vehicle with a GPS unit reports its own existence. When WFTV looked at the fleet records the city provided in September 2026, more than 80 vehicles were missing from that information. That happens in any fleet where the list is kept by hand. A telematics unit sends the VIN, the odometer and the last location every day, so the list and the lot always match.
It is the easiest way to feed it. A 10-year or 100,000-mile rule needs real mileage for every unit, and Volusia County weighs age, use and maintenance cost on top of its six-year, 100,000-mile rule. Telematics reports miles and engine hours automatically, so the replacement list is ranked on use instead of guesswork.
Yes. In 2011 the county added driver feedback modules to the GPS systems already in more than 550 county vehicles, tracking idling, speeding and harsh driving, and an earlier GPS-linked anti-idling push saved 32,000 gallons of fuel. Newer platforms do the same job with better maps and dash cam video tied to the same events.
They should set it. At the end of fiscal 2025 the city still carried $8.5 million in costs from Ian, Nicole and Milton not yet obligated by FEMA, and after Milton storm debris collection started October 21, 2024. Installs for public works and utilities crews work best in small batches outside storm watches, so no crew is short a truck when the weather turns.

City shop, fire station, plant or county yard: we install where the vehicles are kept.
It depends on the vehicle type and the platform. Sedans and SUVs are the quickest; patrol units, fire apparatus and utilities trucks with extra inputs take longer and are quoted separately.
Yes. Once a unit is fitted, each vehicle reports its VIN, odometer and location, so vehicles that sit unused or are missing from the records show up on the platform.
Yes. We fit AVL and GPS hardware on its own circuit and work around the mounts and laptop wiring, keeping clear of lighting and siren circuits.
Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Zonar, Azuga and the other major platforms. We are an independent Geotab Authorized Installer and install the system the city has chosen.
Yes. If we know the delivery dates, we fit the GPS unit and dash cam when the vehicle arrives, so it starts its service life already reporting.
