Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2019 Toyota RAV4?

On a 2019 Toyota RAV4, take constant power from the White wire at the steering lock plug (push-button cars), black 7-pin, pin 7, ignition from the Light Green wire at the steering lock plug, black 7-pin, pin 6, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.

Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.

Test every wire with a meter before you tap it

No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.

This page covers the 2019 Toyota RAV4, the first year of this body.

The RAV4 came with a key or push-button start; the Hybrid is push-button only. Push-button cars take power at the steering lock plug; key cars at the ignition switch plug. Body wires come from one 2021 installer list, carried to 2019. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2019 vehicle.

From the iDatalink guide for 2019 to 2021 gas push-button cars. The Hybrid is filed as its own install and its chart could not be read, so meter these on a Hybrid. On any car, the OBD port has constant Red on pin 16 and ground White/Black on pin 4.
Option 2 Key cars

Ignition switch plug

Key cars. Steering column, white 8-pin plug.
