Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2018 Toyota RAV4?
On a 2018 Toyota RAV4, take constant power from the White wire at the ignition switch (key cars), white 8-pin plug, pin 4, ignition from the White wire at the ignition switch, white 8-pin plug, pin 3, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.
Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.
Test every wire with a meter before you tap it
No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.
This page covers the 2018 Toyota RAV4, the last year of this body.
The RAV4 came with a key or push-button start; the Hybrid is push-button only. Key cars take power at the ignition switch plug; push-button cars at the steering lock plug. The 2016 refresh moved the CAN tap off the OBD port. Body wires come from a list that covers 2013 to 2016, carried to 2018. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2018 vehicle.

From the iDatalink guide for push-button cars. Fortin calls this same plug white, so go by the 7 pins and the location. The 2016 to 2018 Hybrid is different: iDatalink lists constant Blue at OBD pin 16 and ignition Yellow at the dash fuse box white 56-pin plug, pin 14.
Key-car colors from the iDatalink install guides for 2016 to 2018, Directed and the12volt lists, which agree. Push-button colors from iDatalink. The main battery feed is a White wire on the dash fuse box white 1-pin plug; it is a heavy feed, so do not tap it for a small device.
