Wiring Database / Ford / Transit / 2017
Cargo van, passenger wagon, cutaway and chassis cab. Key start.
On a 2017 Ford Transit, take constant power from the Blue/Red wire at the ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 4 and ignition from the Brown/Yellow wire at the ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 1, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.
Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.
No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.
This page covers the 2017 Ford Transit. For 2017 Ford added a 43-way vehicle interface connector behind the glove box with reverse, park, brake, door, speed and engine-running wires for upfitters, which is a clean place to take GPS inputs.
The switch colors come from a 2017 Transit 250 install and match the 2018 and 2019 tables. The interface connector wires come from Ford's 2017 upfitter bulletin. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2017 van, and each row says so.
We send fleet installation work to independent installers. One job goes to one installer. Now adding network partners in North Carolina.
Take constant, ignition and ground from the same area. On this van the ignition switch plug on the steering column has constant, ignition, accessory and start in one spot.
Steering column, black 7-pin plug. Remove the lower column shroud. Install kits list 2015 to 2019 Transits as key start.
The BCM is built into the dash fuse panel, behind the trim panel below the steering wheel, left of the column.
Switch pins from an installer-reported wire table for a 2019 Transit on the12volt (fetched twice, matched) and the iDatalink install guide for a 2018 Transit, which agree. A 2017 Transit 250 install on the12volt matches the ignition, accessory and start colors.
Each chip shows the main insulation color with its stripe. Source: installer-reported wire table for a 2019 Transit and the 2018 iDatalink guide, carried to 2017.

Third brake light color for 2015 to 2016 and the exact ground point were not found.
Interior fuse numbers from fuse-diagram sites (lower trust); the 40A upfitter fuses are from Ford's 2018 Body Builder book. Our team has not yet checked them on a van.
Blue/Red at the ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 4. Always hot, 15A (fed from BCM fuse 3). Meter it before you tap it.
Brown/Yellow at the ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 1. Hot in run and start. Meter it before you tap it.
Green/Brown (positive +) at the BCM plug B, pin 11. Hot in reverse. Meter it before you tap it.
Violet/White (positive +) at the brake pedal switch, or BCM plug C, pin 58. Hot with the pedal pressed. Meter it before you tap it.
White/Violet (negative -) at the BCM plug C, pin 54. Grounds with the parking brake set. Meter it before you tap it.
Violet/Orange at the gray connector at the right side of the driver seat pedestal, pin 4. Ford circuit VMC05, 8000 pulses per mile. Meter it before you tap it.
2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Install kits fit 2015 to 2019 as one van, and the 2017, 2018 and 2019 sources match on the ignition switch wires.
No one has sent photos for the 2017 Ford Transit yet, so yours could be the first. Every photo, wire color and tip we use goes on this page with your name on it, and it saves the next installer time under the dash.
The plugs, tap points, fuse boxes and ground points. Phone photos are fine.
Tap "Add yours" at the top of this page. Your tip and your photos go in the same box.
We check every tip, then post it here "Compliments of" you, by name.
