Who We Serve in Albany

Which fleets work around Albany and the Flint River?

Albany and the counties on either side of it are moving in different directions. The Census Bureau puts Albany at 66,907 residents in July 2025. Dougherty County is at 82,616, down 3.7% since April 2020, while Lee County, just to the north, is at 34,179, up 3.1%. Average commutes run 19.7 minutes for Albany workers and 23.1 minutes in Lee County. Trades with 1 to 10 vehicles are the heart of our work here, and a yard in Leesburg with a job in Albany is one fleet, so we plan both together.

Health care and the Marine Corps base are two of the largest employers. Phoebe Putney Health System describes a network of over 5,400 physicians, nurses and staff across southwest Georgia. Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, where Marine Corps Production Plant Albany re-manufactures ground combat weapon systems, cites a workforce of more than 4,000 civilian Marines, active-duty military and contractors. The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission lists BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics among the defense contractors working with the base.

Manufacturing adds plant and distribution fleets. Georgia Trend named Georgia-Pacific, Molson Coors and Procter & Gamble as the large manufacturers here in 2022 and reported that the Albany P&G plant makes Bounty paper towels and Charmin bath tissue, with a $75 million expansion driven by demand for paper towels. The same development commission lists Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Pratt Industries, Tara Foods and Thrush Aircraft among its local companies.

Farming is the other big piece, and the two counties farm differently. The 2022 Census of Agriculture lists pecans as Dougherty County's largest crop at 10,489 acres, well ahead of cotton at 1,472, and Georgia Grown calls the Albany and Dougherty County area the Pecan Capital of the World. Lee County's biggest crops are cotton at 14,219 acres, corn for grain at 10,725 and peanuts at 8,427.

What We Install in Albany

Set up for bridge detours, orchard tractors and trucks that sleep at home

Every major platform, installed for the vehicles and routes Dougherty and Lee County fleets really have: crews that cross the Flint every day, tractors that work the orchards, and work trucks that go home with their drivers.

GPS Fleet Tracking

Trackers hardwired for ignition and constant power on pickups, vans and box trucks, hour-counting trackers on orchard tractors and farm equipment, and geofences on the Broad Avenue bridge, the Liberty Expressway ramps and every yard, so a day split between Albany and Lee County reads clearly.

Dash & Backup Cameras

Road-facing dash cams that time-stamp what happens on Broad Avenue while one downtown bridge carries the load of two, driver-facing cameras where wanted, and rear and side cameras for dump trucks, box trucks and long mobile units backing into tight lots.

Telematics & Integrations

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more, with engine hours and PTO inputs for tractors and work trucks, ignition and low-voltage alerts for vehicles that work while parked, and trip reports by crossing for dispatch.

Albany-Specific Considerations

What do Albany's bridge, orchards and zoning rule change about an install?

The Oglethorpe Boulevard bridge is being replaced. How should our trucks plan around the Flint River?

Time every crossing and plan the day around the slowest one. GDOT closed the 1953 Oglethorpe Boulevard bridge on July 22, 2025 to replace it with a $33 million, four-lane structure, and it normally carries more than 20,000 vehicles a day. GDOT's designated route for commercial, freight and through traffic runs along US 82, US 19, SR 133, SR 3 and SR 91, and the other way over the river downtown is the two-lane Broad Avenue bridge one block north. In August 2026 the contractor was reporting an opening in the fall, with all construction finished by the end of November.

Albany police logged 11 crashes around the Broad Avenue bridge between July 22 and August 2, 2025, most of them on East Broad Avenue. A road-facing dash cam turns an argument at a Broad Avenue intersection into a clip with a time and a speed on it, so we fit one on every vehicle that uses the crossing. We also put geofences on both bridges and on the expressway ramps, and the trip report then shows how many minutes each crossing took, hour by hour. We leave them running after the new bridge opens, so the before and after times show what the detour cost.

Our crews take work trucks home. What does Albany's zoning rule say about that?

The City of Albany's published rule prohibits parking or storing commercial vehicles in residential districts, with these exceptions: a fully enclosed structure, a stay of under eight hours unless the vehicle is serving the property owner, and one car, pickup, van or SUV per residence carrying exposed equipment or materials within the size limits. Commercial vehicles are defined to include flatbed and dump trucks, tow trucks, buses, tractor-trailers and earth-moving machinery, plus any commercial vehicle over 22 feet long, 8 feet high or 7 feet wide. The Albany Police Department and Code Enforcement share enforcement.

That summary comes from the city's 311 knowledge base, which was last updated in August 2010, so the zoning ordinance itself governs. For an owner with five or eight trucks, the useful record is an overnight location report: every address where each vehicle stopped between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., kept by the tracker. We install at the yard or the owner's driveway and set that report up before we leave, so the question of which truck sleeps where already has an answer.

Which orchard and farm rigs should carry a tracker, and when?

Tractors, tree shakers and the trucks that haul nuts, installed ahead of the autumn harvest and, where a shaker thins the crop, ahead of mid-July. Pecans are Dougherty County's largest crop at 10,489 acres. On October 11, 2018, UGA pecan specialist Lenny Wells wrote that Mitchell, Lee and Dougherty counties account for 30% of Georgia's pecan production, that much of the crop was a few days to a few weeks from harvest when Hurricane Michael came through, and that growers there reported losing 30 to 50% of their trees. Four days later he put Dougherty County's tree loss at 40%.

Where a tractor has no usable data port, we hardwire it for ignition and engine hours, and the hours by orchard block are the numbers an owner wants for fuel, labour and service intervals. The record matters after a storm too. After Hurricane Helene in October 2024, UGA told growers to keep records of labour hours and each piece of equipment used in cleanup for Emergency Conservation Program funds, and after Michael it advised photographing the damage and contacting the county Farm Service Agency before cleanup began. A tracker's engine-hours report by day is that equipment list, already written. Road-facing dash cams cover the trucks on public roads between blocks.

How do you wire a 36-foot mobile clinic that works while it is parked?

With constant power, an ignition sense line and a low-voltage alert, so the tracker can tell a clinic that is driving from a clinic that is seeing patients with the engine off. Phoebe Putney Health System runs two 36-foot custom-built mobile wellness clinics that take primary care and remote specialist care to medically underserved communities across southwest Georgia. They are the local example of a vehicle that becomes a workplace when it stops.

An idle report built for delivery vans would read a working clinic as parked and unused. We set the platform's rules by location and by ignition state, so a stop at an event site counts as service time, and a run-down battery shows as an alert before it strands the coach, whatever power system the unit carries. A rear camera helps with backing a long unit into a tight lot, and a road-facing dash cam covers the rural highway miles between stops. The same wiring suits any mobile service body, from a repair rig to a food truck.

Questions From Albany Fleet Managers

What do Albany fleet managers ask us?

Do you install for Albany businesses with 1 to 10 vehicles?

Yes. Three vans and thirty trucks get the same wiring and the same checks. If you searched for fleet GPS tracker installation near me, a fleet of 1 to 10 vehicles normally means one visit at the shop, the orchard yard or the owner's driveway, planned around when the vehicles are free. Scheduling is typically 3 to 5 days out.

Which GPS and dash camera systems do you install in Albany?

Motive, Netradyne, Lytx, Verizon Connect, Powerfleet, CalAmp, Geotab, Samsara and more. We are independent, so we install the system you have already chosen, and we also offer equipment. If a customer you haul for requires its own device on the truck, we install that as well.

Do you cover Leesburg, Smithville, Sylvester and the farm towns around Albany?

Yes, and Radium Springs, Putney, Sumner, Dawson and Camilla as well. We work throughout Dougherty and Lee counties and into Worth, Terrell and Mitchell counties. Vehicles kept in several towns, such as a yard in Smithville and a crew working out of East Albany, are planned as a single job.

Can a tracker give us the equipment record a storm cleanup asks for?

It supplies the equipment half. After Hurricane Helene, UGA's pecan specialist told growers to keep records of labour hours and each piece of equipment used in cleanup for Emergency Conservation Program funds. A tracker's engine-hours report lists each tractor, loader and truck by day. The labour hours and the photographs stay with the grower.

Should we keep the river-crossing geofences after the Oglethorpe bridge reopens?

Yes. The old bridge normally carried more than 20,000 vehicles a day on four lanes, and while it is closed the two-lane Broad Avenue bridge is the other downtown crossing. Crossing times from before and after the opening show what the closure cost each route, and the same geofences keep reporting if either bridge closes again.
