Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2022 Ford F-150?

On a 2022 Ford F-150, take constant power from the Red wire at the BCM black 22-pin plug J7-G, pin 22 and ignition from the White/Orange wire at the ignition switch, black 6-pin plug, pin 2, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.

Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.

Test every wire with a meter before you tap it

No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.

This page covers the 2022 Ford F-150 with a gas engine or the PowerBoost hybrid. The all-electric F-150 Lightning also arrived this year, and it is wired differently, so this page is not for it. iDatalink lists the 2022 hybrid with push-button start in the same install as the gas trucks.

The colors below come from a 2021 truck's wire table, and the install guides treat 2021 to 2023 as one install, so the 2022 data is carried over rather than read off a 2022 truck. Ford's 2021-22 police upfit guide covers this year directly for the brake and driver door wires. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2022 truck, and each row says so.

Where do I get constant, ignition and ground on a 2022 Ford F-150?

Take constant, ignition and ground from the same area. On this truck the body computer in the passenger kick panel has all three within reach, for key and push-button trucks alike.

Option 1 Easiest

At the BCM

Body computer, which is also the passenger fuse panel. Right side of the passenger footwell, behind the trim.

Constant
Red
BCM black 22-pin plug J7-G, pin 22Always hot, 40A. A second feed, Yellow/Red (60A), is on the black 1-pin plug J8-H.
Ignition
Color not published
BCM plug C2280B, pin 37Hot in run, key or push-button. The installer who found it gives the pin and a photo but no wire color. Meter it.
Ground
Body ground
10mm body bolt, left of the BCM fuse panelAn owner install on a 2021 truck grounds here, with a photo. Never the battery negative post.
Works on key-start, push-button and PowerBoost hybrid trucks. The BCM ignition pin is the true run wire a hybrid needs.
Option 2 Key-start trucks

At the ignition switch

Steering column, on trucks with a regular key. The switch plug changed to a black 6-pin this generation.

Constant
Not found
Not found at the switchSwitch pins 4 and 5 were not found. Take constant from the BCM (Option 1).
Ignition
White/Orange
Ignition switch, black 6-pin plug, pin 2Hot in run and start. Key-start trucks only.
Ground
Body ground
No ground at the switchUse clean body metal under the driver dash.
Accessory
Violet/Green
Ignition switch, black 6-pin plug, pin 6Hot in accessory and run
Start
Blue/White
Ignition switch, black 6-pin plug, pin 1Hot only while cranking
Key sense is Blue/Gray (+) on pin 3. The switch is on a small 5A fuse, so use it as a signal, not for device power.

No engine computer option: Ford's hybrid upfit guide says not to install anything into the control modules or their harnesses. Power pins from an installer-reported wire table for a 2021 F-150 on the12volt, plus an owner's 2021 install for the ground.

Where are the fuse boxes and ground points on a 2022 Ford F-150?

InteriorPassenger fuse panelThis is also the BCM, right side of the passenger footwell. An owner metered empty slot 4 (20A) as hot with the key off and used it for a dash cam, and slot 2 (10A) as delayed accessory. Fuse 20 (5A) feeds the ignition switch.

Fuse slot uses come from an owner's metered 2021 install and a fuse-diagram site (lower trust), carried to 2022. Our team has not yet checked them on a truck.
