Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2020 Ford F-150?
On a 2020 Ford F-150, take constant power from the Green/Red wire at the BCM 22-pin plug G, pin 22 and ignition from the White wire at the BCM 22-pin plug A, pin 16, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.
Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.
Test every wire with a meter before you tap it
No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.
This page covers the 2020 Ford F-150, the last year of this generation before the all-new 2021 truck. The powertrains did not change from 2019. FordPass Connect became standard on every trim this year, and Ford notes the modem is connected and sending vehicle data from the day of purchase, which is worth knowing when a fleet adds its own GPS unit on top.
The wire data is shared with the 2015 to 2019 trucks. iDatalink covers 2020 in the same install and gives the same gateway plug pins, but notes that on 2020 trucks the CAN high wire can be White/Blue or plain Blue. An installer report from a 2020 truck confirms the Green/Brown reverse wire. Our team has not yet metered these on a 2020 truck, and each row says so.

Where do I get constant, ignition and ground on a 2020 Ford F-150?
Take constant, ignition and ground from the same area. Push-button trucks get all three at the body computer. Key-start trucks get all three under the driver side dash, where the gateway plug and the ignition switch sit a few inches apart.
Option 1 Push-button trucks
At the BCM
Body computer, which is also the passenger fuse panel. Right side of the passenger footwell, behind the kick panel trim.
Constant
Green/Red
BCM 22-pin plug G, pin 22Always hot. The main BCM battery feed, on a 50A fuse.
Ignition
White
BCM 22-pin plug A, pin 16Push-button trucks: "Ignition Sense", hot in run. From a 2019 push-button table, not yet confirmed on a 2020.
Ground
Body ground
No ground wire listed at the BCMUse clean body metal in the passenger kick area. Never the battery negative post.
The constant here has the biggest fuse on the truck. On key-start trucks Ford's police guide shows the ignition cavity (pin 16) empty, so key-start trucks use Option 2.
Option 2 Key-start trucks
Under the driver dash
Gateway module on the back of the OBD port, plus the ignition switch on the steering column.
Constant
Green/Red
Gateway module behind the OBD port, black 24-pin plug, pin 24Always hot. Small fused circuit that also feeds the gateway, so keep the load light.
Ignition
White/Orange
Ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 1Hot in run and start. On the steering column, a short reach from the gateway plug.
Ground
Black/Violet
Gateway module, black 24-pin plug, pin 14Module ground, same plug as the constant.
Accessory
Violet/Green
Ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 6Hot in accessory and run
Start
Blue/White
Ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 7Hot only while cranking
Key sense is Blue/Gray on pin 5 of the switch. Pins 2, 3 and 4 were not found in any source we checked.
No engine computer option on this truck. Ford's own upfit guide for this generation says not to connect anything into the PCM or its harness, because it can affect engine and transmission operation. Power pins from installer-reported 2015 and 2019 wire tables and the iDatalink install guide, which covers 2020.
