Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD / GMC Sierra 1500 Limited?

On a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD / GMC Sierra 1500 Limited, take constant power from the Red/Violet wire at the BCM, under the driver dash left of the column, blue 27-pin plug, pin 4 and ignition from the Violet/Black wire at the BCM green 25-pin plug, pin 6, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.

Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.

Test every wire with a meter before you tap it

No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.

This page covers the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 LD and Limited (the old body sold alongside the new 2019 truck). The Silverado and Sierra share the same wiring. The easiest power spot is the body control module under the driver dash, left of the steering column.

GM's upfitter site says the 2019 LD and Limited carry over the 2018 electrical section, so the 2018 colors are used here. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2019 truck, and each row says so.

Where do I get constant, ignition and ground on a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD / GMC Sierra 1500 Limited?

Take constant, ignition and ground from the same area. On this truck the body control module (BCM) under the driver dash has constant, ignition and accessory within a few inches.

Option 1 Easiest

At the BCM

Body control module, under the driver side of the dash, left of the steering column. Remove the knee panel.

Constant
Red/Violet
BCM, under the driver dash left of the column, blue 27-pin plug, pin 4Always hot, 20A. The 2015 and 2018 sheets agree on the plug and pin.

Option 2 Ignition switch

At the ignition switch

Steering column, black 6-pin plug. Good for ignition sense; start and key sense are resistor-coded, not plain 12V.

Constant
Not for power
Do not use the switch constantThe Red/Blue wire at the ignition switch (black 6-pin, pin 4) carries only about 2A. Take constant from the BCM (Option 1).
Ignition
Violet/Black
Ignition switch, black 6-pin plug, pin 2Hot in run and start. Same color as at the BCM.
Ground
Body ground
Body metal under the driver dashClean, bare metal only.
Accessory
