Which wires give constant, ignition and ground on a 2017 Ford Taurus / Police Interceptor Sedan?

On a 2017 Ford Taurus / Police Interceptor Sedan, take constant power from the Red wire at the BCM, white 32-pin plug (C2280D), pin 6, ignition from the White/Orange wire at the ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 1, and ground to clean, bare body metal. Meter every wire first.

Written by API Signal, fleet GPS and camera installers for 35+ years across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, installing every major telematics and camera brand. Every wire on this page lists its source.

Test every wire with a meter before you tap it

No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, and the manufacturer can change them in the middle of a model year. We share this as a starting point for installers, and you are responsible for confirming every connection on the truck in front of you.

This page covers the 2017 Ford Taurus and Ford Police Interceptor Sedan.

The Police Interceptor Sedan is the police version of the Taurus and uses a plain key. Ford gave it a 14-way plug with fused constant, ignition and accessory feeds for added equipment; we have its pin layout and fuses but not its wire colors. The turn, brake, door and other body wire colors come from a 2013 civilian Taurus list, carried to 2017. Our own team has not yet metered these on a 2017 car.

Where do I get constant, ignition and ground on a 2017 Ford Taurus / Police Interceptor Sedan?

Take constant, ignition and ground from the same area.

Option 1 Police sedan

Police 14-way plug

Police Interceptor Sedan only. Bottom of the dash, above the tunnel between the front seats, behind the side trim panels.

Police 14-way plug: pin 10 (15A)Delayed accessory. Stays on after key-off until a door opens or 30 minutes pass.
Ford says to keep each load at 85% of the fuse or less. Pin 6 is the start feed, so never tap it. No wire colors were found for these pins, so go by pin number and meter each one. Pin layout from Ford's 2013 police guide. Ford's 2015, 2016 and 2018 guides list the same plug and the same feeds.
Option 2 Taurus

Ignition switch and BCM

Key cars. The BCM is the dash fuse box, under the driver side of the dash.

Ignition switch, black 7-pin plug, pin 6Hot in accessory and run. Both lists in the 2013 post agree.
The 12V wire at the ignition switch is Yellow/Red on pin 4, but it is fed by a 5A fuse, so use the switch wires to sense ignition, not to power a device. The starter is Blue/White on pin 7. Never tap the starter. A second list in the same post gives Blue/Red for 12V and Green/Violet for ignition, which are the 2012 colors, so meter first.
