How An API ProFleet Rollout Works

Every ProFleet rollout runs the same four steps: a walkthrough of each vehicle type, a small pilot, the rollout itself in waves sized to your operation, and a handoff with the records for every vehicle.

Step One

What Happens At The Walkthrough?

We look at one vehicle of each type in your fleet and write down exactly how that type gets fitted: where the power and ground come from, where the antenna and cameras go, and what old equipment has to come out first.

A van, a box truck and a bus, each with its own written install spec, labeled power and ground, antenna and camera spots, and old devices to remove

Step Two

Why Start With A Pilot?

A few vehicles go first so your team can check the data, the alerts and the camera views before the same install is repeated across the fleet.

If something needs changing, it gets changed on a handful of vehicles instead of on every one. A wiring choice corrected at the pilot is one small fix. The same choice discovered after the whole fleet is done means going back to every vehicle.

Step Three

How Is The Rollout Scheduled?

In waves sized to how many vehicles you can take off the road at once, with a running count so you always know what is done and what is left.

A rollout board labeled with waves one and two done, wave three today, a running count of 14 of 21 done, and missed vehicles going into the next wave

On a recent 70-vehicle city fleet in South Carolina, the city could release 10 vehicles a day, so the rollout ran as 7 visits and the old provider's devices came out along the way.

Step Four

What Do We Get At The Handoff?

You get the written spec for each vehicle type, a verification record for every vehicle and photos of the finished installs.

One step always stays with your team: confirming the vehicle list is current before we start. A yard list that is a few months old is the most common cause of a wasted trip, so we ask for it plainly at the beginning.

Questions We Get Asked

ProFleet Rollouts, Answered

How long does a large rollout take?

It depends on your vehicle count and how many vehicles you can release each day. One installer typically fits 15 to 20 vehicles a day, and the crews and waves are sized from there.

What if a vehicle is out on the road on its install day?

It goes into the next wave, and the running count shows exactly which vehicles are still open.

Can you work across several yards?

Yes. Multi-yard fleets run as one project under one written standard.

Do you remove the old provider's equipment?

Yes. Old devices are identified at the walkthrough and removed as part of the rollout.

What do you need from us before we start?

A current vehicle list and access to the vehicles on the scheduled days.
